Guest guest
One of the most accurate and sensitive tests for Lyme (and co-infections) is through IgeneX. Guest guest
I would assume the Western Blot was recommended. This test is more sensitive as well as testing antigenes, pcr. Hope this helps! Hit me with more questions if you have any. Blessings, BB Connected by DROID on Verizon Wireless Correct test for Lyme Disease? There was a discussion on this list a few weeks ago about the correct (i.e. most accurate) test for Lyme Disease, but I can't find the thread. Can someone resend the information? I have an appointment with a neurologist tomorrow. My regular doctor (clinical epidemiologist) says that the only treatment for LD is antibiotics. I have been following a natural approach up to now (under his direction), so I was surprised at this. So if I actually do have LD, then I want to fix that. The test that I had for LD was done by LabCorp, and the name was: " Lyme Disease Antibodies, IgM " . Here is a description of it: * Methodology:* Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) with pretreatment of specimen to eliminate rheumatoid factor and IgG antibodies which reduce nonspecific cross reactions Thanks, Larry -- " I ask God not for the grace to see what lies ahead but for the grace to accept whatever comes. Guest guest
My understanding is that the most conclusive test is Western Blot that is NOT supported by the FDA. FDA approved Wetsern Blots are limited as compared to an unaapproved FDA Western Blot. IgeneX is the lab my LLMD used that caught my Lyme Disease after MDL's FDA approved Western Blot missed it. I have been mis/under diagnosed with MS for the past 5 yrs. Mike
Guest guest
MS to Lymie myself; NONE of the Lyme Disease (aka borreliosis) tests are accurate, especially the standard ELISA tests our front line physicians use. Prominent Lyme Doc Burrascano reports tests from IgeneX to be the best. He also recommends having CD57 tests run. A DVD of one of Burrascano's lectures is available through the California Lyme Disease Association (CALDA). www.LymeDisease.org The longer we have been sick, the less reliable any of the tests are. Ask specifically for a test from IgeneX and a Lab Corp CD57 test. You and or the neurologist may have to get help interpreting the list of numbers (weights of fragments in kilo-daltons). In regards to treatment, I am looking at a very likely PICC line to bring in intravenous antibiotics. My Lyme Disease has compromised my GI tract, making oral antibiotics ineffective. Last month start intramuscular antibiotics which are demonstrating slight, brief, benefit. Once the disease has been in us a while, it burrows into our cells and evades our immune systems, and therefore no antibodies are produced. If we have no antibodies, the tests can not detect the infection. I sleep a lot. Feel free to send a note to wake me up. > > There was a discussion on this list a few weeks ago about the correct (i.e. > most accurate) test for Lyme Disease, but I can't find the thread.
