Draft National Health Bill

Dear friends,

As has been discussed for some time, a National health bill has been drafted by

the Union Health Ministry with inputs from some of us, which is now on the NRHM

website. Sundar and myself among others have been part of the drafting group,

and Adv. Shruti Pandey has been centrally responsible for drafting this.

This draft act seeks to concretise the Right to Health care and Right to key

Health determinants for all citizens of India. People's rights pertain to both

the public health system and the private medical sector.

It is suggested that we should include the issue of passing such an act in JSA's

'People's Health Manifesto' for inclusion by various parties, and we try to push

this through in the next Parliament.
