Yep, Staci has the vomiting. It doesn't happen often since she's on

Elavil/amytriptylene for it... she takes 30 mg (3 10mg tabs) after dinner

each evening. Her dad is on it for sleep apnea-- he takes 25 mg. 200 lb.

difference... mito metabolism. Go figure.

Last week she had a fullblown episode at school for the first time.

Would be the week I'm without a car... [Pray the Los Angeles MTA strike is

over today-- is in administration and usually takes the Blue Line

metrorail then the Red Line subway in to work.]

In looking back, Staci's had Cyclic Vomiting since she was about a month

old, just has few cycles at one time. It's not every baby who can hurl in

their babycarriage and get it over the side and on the floor. Not to mention

all over herself. " Cough. Cough. Whoosh. "

Other drugs that Staci has used for CVS are Inderal or other beta

blocker, and Periactin, that works on the hunger center in the brain. We

just give the Elavil with/after dinner because that lets her be more awake in

the mornings.

CVS has been a recognised illness for a while, but very recently has been

associated with a mito cause. There is a list/association available. Web

rings, too.

I joined the CVS list for about a week. The connection to mito is a new

discovery within the past few years, barely more than a researchable theory

to many. When people (especially women) would post that they have other

debilitating symptoms, and their kids had them too... I wanted to post in

red italics underlined in big script

" Get a clue, folks! This is caused by mitochondrial disease. NO Wonder

you're having problems. "

To paraphrase the host of Mysteries and Scandles:

Mito. Ain't it a bitch.

Love,

, Staci, &

, middle aged, dx Bipolar type II hypomanic, probable mito.

Staci, almost 7, multiple mito dx , " highly involved " , bestest smiler!

, ageless, wonderfully, blessedly supportive hubsydaddy.
