Guest guest
Instead of trying to directly treat MS-related symptoms (such as depression), I think your wisest course of action would be to employ a comprehensive approach that includes a diet low in saturated fat (like the Best Bet Diet), exercise, detoxification, a low stress lifestyle, food supplements, glyconutrients, Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), and a host of other things that some MSers have found very helpful. Guest guest
Well this group isnt really that type of " support group " but if you are looking for help we can try to give you some suggestions on what to do about the situation. First, you didnt say why he didnt want to give you the medication ? there has to be some sort of reason. Maybe there is some sort of medical reason, I doubt it, but you should ask. If he wont give you the medication I would at least want the reason why. But that isnt really going to get you the medication you want, if you want it and he wont give it, then why cant you just get a new doctor ? if there is some reason you cant do that, just go buy the medication online. > ** > > > IT'S REALLY HARD TO START THIS SUBJECT, BUT I WILL DO THE BEST I CAN! Guest guest
It is really hard on the body to cold cold turkey with antidepression meds. Doing it without tapering them down can cause increased anxiety, depression, leading to suicidal tenancies. It is best if you want to get off of them to have the doc. taper them down. SAM-E is an amino acid that has been shown to have positive results with some people and st. 's Worth. You really need to try to find a doc though to help you deal with the issue of not giving you the meds. I know what can happen when they are stopped abruptly. I urge you to seek a new doc. Subject: Re: doctor stopped depression meds. Guest guest
Antidepressant medication should not be stopped abruptly unless something is substituted for it. You are going through withdrawal. The nuero transmitters in the brain become used to the medication. Call the doctor back or call an on call doctor and tell them you are going through withdrawal...don't suffer. Best,
Guest guest
I agree with the others. This is actually my job now. I work at a detox center that helps people wean off anti-depressants and other psychiatric drugs. It's an 8-WEEK program, this is definitely not something to stop cold turkey. It affects your brain chemistry and can cause a lot of horrible symptoms including mania. Please speak with your doctor or the clinic where he works to discuss this issue right away! If you have to, go to an urgent care or ER to ask for a 1-time prescription so you can wean yourself very slowly. Crystal > > IT'S REALLY HARD TO START THIS SUBJECT, BUT I WILL DO THE BEST I CAN! Guest guest
There is a website forum called paxilprogress.com. They will help you wean down. Even most doctors have you taper too fast. It`s very very dangerous to cold turkey. > great suggestion, go to an urgent care or ER to ask for a 1-time > prescription so you can wean yourself very slowly. > >
Guest guest
Or try natural herbs if possible. I weaned myself off of anxiety medication years ago using St. s Wort, Kava Kava....etc. Research on-line herbs that are good with helping depression and take those. No side effects and (for me), they worked great. Hope this helps! ----- Re: Re: doctor stopped depression meds. Guest guest
Have you gone to your general practiciner? did the neuro tell you why he was not going to refill the script? I would really recommend you contact your general doctor and ask about getting (if nothing else) dosage to go off them gradually as quitting cold turkey can cause problems. Guest guest
I have been on antidepressants numerous times during my life and had no problem weaning off them on my own pretty quickly. Most recently though I did get some headaches. In contrast, weaing off benzos has been really tough for me. Subject: doctor stopped depression meds.
