Any answers would be greatly appreciated. For the last few days I have been experiencing a cold sensation in my leg, pretty much in the same spot (below my right knee, above my right ankle). My leg itself in not cold, the feeling is from the inside. Looking up on-line I think it's called Peripheral Neuropathy (sensory). Looking up reasons for this I only see chemotherapy and tumors, and I'm hoping that's not the case, I'm actually hoping this is just MS related, because then I know I can probably do something about it. Has anyone else experienced this, if so do you know if there is anything out there that helps it? I can't even find this in my alternative medicine books, so it's very frustrating and I really don't want to go to my neurologist if I don't have to because I don't trust him. Guest guest Posted October 20, 2011 Report Share Posted October 20, 2011 , did you google it ? I am more than happy to help anyone with tough questions, but please, dont ask simple questions that google can answer. Personally if it were me, I would be googling benfotiamine right now rather than asking someone these questions and waiting and hoping for a response. please do not take offense to this, I really hope what I said helps you rather than hurts you. Guest guest Posted October 20, 2011 Report Share Posted October 20, 2011 I have looked it up on google, and you're right, it was dumb to ask since as soon as I got the e-mail I looked it up. I am actually on amazon right now trying to figure out how to buy this. There are expensive formulas for around $45 a bottle, and then there are cheaper products for less than $20 a bottle, so I'm not sure what I want to do. I will probably try a cheaper product first and just see if it has any effect on me. I just didn't know if you have had any experience with benfotiamine yourself or just heard of it. Either way I appreciate you telling me and I'm definitely going to try it out. ----- Re: Re: Peripheral Neuropathy Date: Thu, 20 Oct 2011 11:04:12 -0700
& nbsp;

,
did you google it ?

I am more than happy to help anyone with tough questions, but please, dont
ask simple questions that google can answer.
Personally if it were me, I would be googling benfotiamine right now rather
than asking someone these questions and waiting and hoping for a response.

please do not take offense to this, I really hope what I said helps you
rather than hurts you.

On Thu, Oct 20, 2011 at 10:44 AM, tazeeyore@... & lt;tazeeyore@... & gt;wrote:
I haven't, what is that? Guest guest Posted October 21, 2011 Report Share Posted October 21, 2011 I have MS and for helping to repair the peripheral neuropathy, I take Befotiamine. The brand that I take is cheaper then some other ones that I have tried and it helps with balancing blood sugar, reducing pain from neuropathy (nerve damage) in the legs and feet and it helps to start to repair the nerves. Here is a link to the kind that I take that does work great http://www.vitaminwagon.com/benfotiamineplusmulti-b120capsules.aspx This website sells the benfotiamine one jar at a time or you can buy 3 jars at a time. I take 2 caps of this form twice a day, but if you have more extreme nerve pain u can take as much as you need to take, since your body uses what it needs and the rest leaves your system with 12 hours. I find that taking the Benfotiamine after meals helps, but you can also take it on an empty stomach without causing an upset stomach. Befotiamine helps with balancing blood sugar and reducing pain from neuropathy in the legs and feet from diabetes too. My Grandpa takes the Benfotiamine and it helps reduce the pain from neuropathy in his legs and feet and it helps to normalize his blood sugar too. Befotiamine can't be taken alone, since it is the fat soluable form of vitamin B1. All B vitamins need to be taken with other B vitamins to prevent a deficiency in the other B vitamins. This form of befotiamine has a few other B vitamins with it that help it to absorb better. The combination in good for aiding in absorption and preventing further vitamin deficiencies. I find that taking the befotiamine by itself is not enough in helping to speed healing in the nerves that are damaged because of MS attacks on the nerves. Extra vitamin B12 is also needed for helping to repair damaged nerves, where there is neuropathy. The form of B12 has to be the methyl form for the B12 to absorb at higher doses to help repair damaged nerves. Here is a link to the form of B12 that I take that is helping to repair the neuropathy in my legs and feet http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Energy-Complex-2000mcg-Packets/dp/B000EZUQFU\ I take 1 to 3 packets a day, mixed with water, but you could mix it with juice if you wanted to. I also take B complex with these to help prevent B vitamin deficiencies of the other B vitamins. The B complex that I take is a food form based B complex. Here is a link to the type of B complex that I take http://www.vitacost.com/MegaFood-DailyFoods-Balanced-B-Complex I have been doing this combination for 5 or 6 months now. Of cost is always the limiting factor, when you are disabled and on a fixed income, but I want to function better and taking these together are hellping give me more energy, helping me to start to be able to stand up and let go again (which I haven't been able to do for a few years), helping my memory to start to wake up and function better again and helping to give me a more positive outlook on life than I had before. One thing to note is that you need not be alarmed that taking higher doses of B vitamins does turn your urine much more yellow. That is normal, since you body uses whatever of the B vitamins that it can absorb to help repair nerves and then you pee out the extra, since B vitamins only stay in your system for 12 hours before it leaves your body. Taking B vitamins is not a quick fix for repairing peripheral neuropathy in Multiple Sclerosis. Taking these things consistently over a period of time is what is needed to help repair damaged nerves, since nerves do take a while for them to be repaired by the body, with the help of giving your body what it needs to help repair the nerves. I hope that you find this information helpful for helping to repair the damaged nerves. Peace and Be Well. -- Diane ________________________________ To: mscured Sent: Thursday, October 20, 2011 2:18 PM Subject: Re: Re: Peripheral Neuropathy I have looked it up on google, and you're right, it was dumb to ask since as soon as I got the e-mail I looked it up. Guest guest Posted October 21, 2011 Report Share Posted October 21, 2011 I found this VERY helpful and I will definitely be trying it out. Right now I started a fast because I did The Master Cleanser in the past and I feel it did help my body. This is going to be a short fast (last time I did 30 days), but this time I'm going to try and just do a 10 day fast to give my body a break, and then I can start with the vitamins. Thank you so much for taking the time to share that with me, I have all the links saved. ----- Re: Re: Peripheral Neuropathy Date: Fri, 21 Oct 2011 08:39:56 -0700 (PDT)
<span style= " display: none; Guest guest Posted October 21, 2011 Report Share Posted October 21, 2011 awesome ! I have taken it, but I dont have neuropathy, I took it for overall nerve health. Usually people take benfo for diabetic Neuropathy, but hopefully it helps neuropathy no matter what the cause. From what I know, there seems to be a threshold dose for people with diabetic neuropathy of around 600mg-900mg. a day. I would build up to that dose over a period of time just to make sure you tolerate it ok. Hope this helps On Thu, Oct 20, 2011 at 11:18 AM, tazeeyore@... wrote: I have looked it up on google, and you're right, it was dumb to ask since as soon as I got the e-mail I looked it up. Guest guest Posted October 24, 2011 Report Share Posted October 24, 2011 A few weeks ago I bought compression/nurses socks for the various parasthesias in my legs such as stiffness, numbness, and circulation in the legs and pain in ankles. I really did not expect these socks to work but they were only about $8 or so, and they got good online reviews for helping people with arthritis, circulation, swelling, etc, so I figured, what the heck, I'll give them a try. To my surprise since I started using them my legs feel much more normal (less paresthesias). I suppose it could be a coinicidence or a placebo effect or the fact that I changed up my supplements/meds. I'm just glad it seems to be working and I now wear the socks pretty much all the time.
