Guest guest
I have heard excellent things about Pacific Interventional. They do a lot of CCSVI and are very experienced and they really stay on top of the latest developments and what impresses me the most is that they are tweaking and improving the technique all the time as they learn more and more. They stay very open minded that way. Dr. Hewett of Pacific Intervenional said that they determined that when they make a small tear in the 0-ring valve rather than stretching it, they have decreased restenosis from 50% to 10% in the 10 months since their facility made this change. He acknowledges that it is too early to make a conclusion but it seems that this " tear method to the 0-ring " is cuttting down on resentois, as compared to the stretch method that had previously been done and is what other places are doing. I like that they are trying to improve on the procedure and Dr. Hewett stated that his goal is that each person only need CCSVI once in their lifetime--they are constantly learning more and trying to improve on the procedure to reduce risks, complicaitons, and restenosis. Most other docs doing CCSVI just get stuck in one mold and keep doing the same thing. I would like to go there but my insurance doesn't cover them and I found another doctor who my insurance will cover who is closer to my home so I will probably go to the doc in my home state. The one near my home follows Zamboni to the letter, but frankly I would rather go to the place that is learning and improving on the method--and that I think is Pacific Interventional. My first choice would be Pacific Interventional. I heard the best ones there are Dr. Hewett, Dr. Arata, and Dr. . However, due to geographical issues and health insurance issues, like I said, I will probably go to my home state doc. Then if I do restenose I will go to Pacific for re-treatment. Also the ccsvi.org has an " endothelial program. " People say if one follows it they will reduce restenosis risk. It is basically gluten free, low fat, and lots of Vitamin D and Omega 3 and anti-inflammatories such as Turmeric. Let us know what you decide. I am deciding too. I am still considering Pacific but probably as for the reasons explained above I will use my homestate doc, who is also supposed to be very good. Guest guest
Zoe, thank you for your reply. Thank you for your encouraging update on 6 months post CCSVI to Janet. I have scheduled my CCSVI Procedure at Synergy Health Concepts (Pacific Interventional)  in Orange County for May 19/20th. I'm am trying to remain " cautiously optimistic " and not have expectations beyond normal. I was diagnosed in April 2008. My 1st symptoms presented in August 2003. I'm still holding down a full time job and able to do most things around the house, albeit it takes awhile to complete even the simplest tasks. If you'd like, I'll update you post-surgery.  Thanks to all of your encouraging posts.....
