Guest guest
Yes.  I have MS and I take Glutamine.  It does help me with having more energy and it helps to improve digestion by helping to reverse the damage to the digestive tract, like in the case of Leaky Gut. Because MS often causes malabsorption problems and sets up the body for developing leaky gut and other absorption problems in the digestive tract, it can be helpful to take L-Glutamine regularly for  few months straight. MS also causes more vitamin deficiencies in the body, which can add to many of the symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis and aggravate them.  When I am taking the L-Glutamine more regularly for a longer period of time, I find that I appear to be absorbing the  nutrients and vitamins from my food better, so that I don't need to take so many vitamin supplements to help make up the difference to reduce the vitamin deficiencies. I am not a doctor, so talk to you doctor to see if this is a good idea for you to take the L-Glutamine too, for helping to reduce your symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis or whether the way that your body reacts to things may make it so that L-Glutamine may not be a good idea for you to take. I hope this helps! Peace! Diane ________________________________ To: mscured Sent: Saturday, August 6, 2011 12:42 PM Subject: P.S. L-Glutamine?  I'm aware of the controversy about using this supplement when you have neurological issues like MS. Has anyone tried it anyways? I'm wondering about dosage and length of use. Gotta get this gut healed. Crystal

In fact, I avoid them more than anything else in the treatment of MS. From everything I've read, the leaky gut is one of the causes of the MS in the first place, not a result. The leaky gut, and resulting hyperactive immune system, leads to a variety of autoimmune disorders like MS, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc. How much L-glutamine are you taking? How long have you been on it? Thanks! Crystal
Guest guest
I tried it a long time ago but not for long, only 2 bottles worth. Didn't do anything but then I wouldn't expect much in such a short time.So good to see you here Crystal. Sorry to hear your new intolerances. Go careful on the foods allowed back on or you'll make yourself allergic to them again. Now waiting with trepidation on my own new ELISA test results.Janet To: mscured From: freewitheft@... Guest guest
Thanks Janet, good to hear from you too. I tried L-glutamine for a short time as well. However, I was only taking 1.5 grams/day based on my acupuncturist's advice. From what I'm reading, 3 to 5 grams/day is needed to get to a therapeutic dose, divided into a few doses a day. Let me know what your new ELISA says. I wouldn't worry that it will happen to you just because rotating didn't work for me. I suspect that frequent alcohol use is aggravating my leaky gut and making me more susceptible. I rarely get " drunk " , I just like to have a glass of wine or a beer in the evening. (After the kids go to bed, cuz I've got the single mom thing going on! lol) So, no alcohol for me in the near future. Interestingly, there's been a discussion going on about anxiety attacks. A couple of the side benefits I've read about L-glutamine are lessening anxiety and alcohol cravings. I will report back! Crystal > Sorry to hear your new intolerances.
