To achieve zero transmission rate of HIV/AIDS among women in the State, the

Kerala State AIDS Control Society (KSACS) has joined hands with the Kudumbasree

Mission. The joint venture will work for the HIV prevention activities.

A workshop had been conducted to formulate an action plan for the HIV prevention

and care programmes through the activities and structure of the Kudumbasree

Mission. The workshop developed a draft for the co-ordinated intervention of the

duo with the support of the HIV-affected in the State through district missions

and the three-tier system of the Kudumbasree.

While inaugurating the workshop, Kudumbasree executive director Saradha

Muraleedharan asserted the responsibility of the Mission in taking up the HIV

prevention and AIDS care activities in the society. KSACS additional project

director Dr T.V. Velayudhan said that by 2012, the National AIDS Control

Organisation (NACO) and KSACS expected to reach zero transmission rate and for

this, the general community, especially women, need to be empowered. The only

way for empowerment is to create public awareness and work against stigma and

discrimination in the society. The truck with the Kudumbasree will help in

caring the concerns of the infected people in the targeted and general

communities, he said
