I think breathing problems are universal.

Re: Asthma

Wendi,

This is oooh so true.

Seems the same problems are encountered worldwide.

X-rays can be blurred for so many reasons. If they suspect RSV they should

test for it. The clapping on the back is highly effective and the primary

treatment for RSV. Cupped hands with the child head down works very well.

Lots of water to thin secretions. Steam up the bathroom real good and then

take the her in for 15-20 min with the shower still running. Go out if she

starts to wheeze badly. I have to say as a Respiratory Therapist,

medications aren't going to be the cure all. They actually can cause a lot

of problems and don't cure it. The more nonmedicinal interventions you can

find the better equipt you will be to deal with their asthma. Not saying

that medications are bad they can be life savers, but they should be only

part of an arsenal against asthma.

Sounds familiar. It always takes Adam about 3 weeks to get over an attack.

He is allergy and exercise induced. He has a URI right now and we're going

thru inhalers, hot showers, sipping warm water, etc.

Soon he starts soccer. He has to take 2 puffs before ever game. But I'm

grateful it works for him.

Is it the polution that's causing all these respiratory probs? I hope your

ds outgrows it too.

I don't think the polution (although it can be quite bad) plays a role in his

particular case. I hate the length of time it takes for him to heal. I hope

you son is able to enjoy the soccer season. That is my favorite sport for

kids! I will let you know what I find out about alternative methods.

Please if you find anything, especially natural remedies let me know. I

would love to give him something fresh from nature, rather than him puffing

on an inhaler. Know what I mean?

I'll post it if I run on to something.

Hi Ken:

It's nice to hear from you. My son's cough is getting a little bit

better today. All the meds must have finally gotten 'on board'.

It's quite a relief for him as well as me. I wish the sun would come

out and stay out so that all this pollen and mold could settle down!

Not to mention, get rid of all the nasty cold type viruses that are

out there! :o) When the docs told me that they suspected that both

my children had mito, I was, of course quite overwhelmed. I started

doing massive research online and your site was one of the first that

I went to. Just wanted to say " Thanks " for being there. :o) Warm

wishes.... Kathy M.
