Guest guest
A celebration of Raas Garba at The Humsafar Trust As a part of The Humsafar Diwali festival celebration, Raas Garba for the MSM community members was organized on 17th October 2008 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Parle east railway hall. More than 100 MSM community members participated and danced in this event. It was fascinating to see diverse people from different section of the MSM community (i.e. Koti, Panti, Gay, Bisexual, TGs) participating at this event together in harmony and enjoying together. Professional DJ was orgnaized to set the mood for the event. Lots of famous songs in Hindi, Gujrathi and Marathi were played at this occasion. It was astonishing to see the dancing talent displayed during the event by all the community participants. The event was well planned by The Humsafar Friday workshop committee event and only MSM members were allowed to enter in the premises. The hall was fully covered with cloth partition and new comers were well protected and received in friendly manner by the Humsafar staff. Photography and video shooting was prohibited for the event and timely instruction regarding decent behaviour was getting announced by HST anchor. To motivate the community ownership three members from the community were asked to judge the dancers based on their attire, dance moves and overall performance. It was unique opportunity for the community judges to mix in the crowd and judge this competition in the end. Some refreshments were served at the end of this event. A small piggy bank was circulated to all the invitees to voluntarily donate some money for the community corpus at the entrance. Overall event was quite interesting and well orgnaized. All credit goes to Managers and staff member of HST again!
