Guest guest
You took 5,000 or 50,000?? Either way don't worry about it, just skip taking it for a month. Guest guest
I agree with the other posters who felt that this is probably not a real cause for concern. If you do think you're having adverse symptoms, I'd call your doctor or perhaps poison control. I know that I've read that much more research has been done, with evidence that the recommended doses for vitamin D are much lower than they should be. I'm repeating this from memory, so I'd try to verify this with a web search if I really needed to know. But I think there has been research done where the daily dose of vitamin D was upped to around 20,000 iu daily, with no ill effects. Vitamin D does cumulate, so if you think you've taken too much, you can just stop taking it for a period of time until it disappears from the body. Guest guest
I agree with Tom. One time I took 30,000 iu per day for 3 weeks to beat pneumonia that was resistant to antibiotics. It worked !! Now I can't take any antibiotics (or choose not to) so whenever I get an infection, mainly sinus or lungs, I take 10,000 to 30,000 until its gone. I am very small too and I am fine! You will be fine too. I take a maintenance dose of 6000 to 10,000 a day. > > > > 5000 IU is high but not dangerous. Guest guest
I found this important piece of information about vitamin-D: " According to this paper, all infants in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) received dangerously high doses of Vitamin D every three months in their doctor's office. The policy was in place for 35 years. The first 600,000 IU dose was given at three months and then every three months until the child was 18 months of age. " Sorry, I misplaced the source but you can Google it. Have you ever noticed how big and strong those East Germans were and how they dominated the Olympics? Some claim steroids but it is well known that drinking Vitamin-D enriched milk has increased the over-all stature of people in the US. So, 50,000 for a couple of days may not be so bad. Just hold off for a week or so and you will be fine. I would, myself, order a vitamin D3 blood test out of curiosity. > > Hi All, > > I mistakenly took 50,00 iu of vitamin D3 2 days in a row, when my blood level (just tested some weeks ago) was 78 ng/ml (reference range 30-100 ng/ml). > > I had some mild muscle weakness and would like to know if anyone has suggestions for flushing it out. > > I am drinking alot of water, but not sure that is helpful since it's oil-soluble. > > Any ideas? > > >
Guest guest
Hi All , it was 50,000. Thanks for the help! I have not taken any since, and it seems to be correcting. Also it made my stiff hand more flexible, and improved my vision. But it did weaken the legs for a while. > > Any ideas? > > >
Guest guest
I thought it was in different units (metric ones) where the range is different. So I tried to get it into range, only to find that it was in range for the ng/ml units. And that I had taken too much.
