Guest guest
Thanks for posting that, Tom. I was not aware of this one. In light of the new info, I am glad I let the original post through. I always assume the info in Tom B's posts is legit, because he does his research and always does a good job bringing relevant health info to the list. Wow.. that is sick on so many levels and so many ways. I don't understand how the general population can be ignorant and/uncaring of these issues. Stuff like this, and genetically modified foods and the host of food purity issues are important and they effect everyone's health and well being. People need to look past the political rhetoric and see what is actually occurring and how it effects their health and the health of their children. Sure the FDA may approve this stuff, but that does not mean it's safe. When you get right down to it the FDA is only looking out for their own interests. For those who call this political propaganda, look past the politics to the issues underneath. Do you *really* want your taste buds manipulated at the cellular level? The human body is amazing and taste is one way your body knows what is, and is not good for it. Think about it.. with enough " taste enhancing technology " companies could package cow poop and make your body think it tastes good and is therefore, good for you. It's not about politics.. it's about health, and honestly. What does it have to do with MS? Lots. There is no proof that genetically modified foods, chemicals ect do not damage the neuro and/or immune systems. For all we know stuff like this could have been a direct cause of the issues we all are facing. At the very least, with an autoimmune disorder you should be aware of what you put into your body and underhanded tactics to sneak things into our food make that difficult, if not impossible. If you don't know what's in a food you can't possibly know if it will harm your immune or neuro systems. There is even a portion of the US government that thinks it should have control over the food you grow in *your own back yard*. Tell me how do the carrots, lettuce and onions growing on my land, in my yard, or the organic medicinal and culinary herbs growing in my house for my own personal use make any difference to the feds? They don't.. but they do make a difference to my overall health and functioning. It relates to MS because it effects our health and well being. I try to only approve those political posts that are related to MS and general health. I field quiet a few posts that have nothing to do with health.. things like child care laws, land ownership laws, gun control etc. Posts like those probably have no place here.. but information about what's in food and medications, along with how various world governments are handling food and health laws and practices are relevant. I do the best I can, guys.. not everyone will be happy with, or agree with every post. Guest guest
My objection is to the sensationalism and moralistic Christian overtone of the forwarded " NaturalNews Insider Alert " that began this discussion thread. Kidney cells from aborted fetuses are not being included as ingredients in products. The cells in question are not from many human embryos (not from many aborted fetuses). The cells used in testing are specifically from HEK 293, a cell line that was originally cultured in the 1970s from a single human embryo in the Netherlands. No reference is given as to the source of that human embryo. At some point an assumption or conjecture was made that this specific human embryo was an aborted fetus. KC http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/health/2012/01/26/bill-would-ban-aborted-fetuses-in-\ food/ " Shortey may be acting on claims that the San Diego-based company Semonyx used proteins derived from human embryonic kidney cells to test artificial sweeteners, NPR reported. The cell line, known as HEK 293, was created from a human embryo in 1970 and has become a staple in biochemistry labs around the world. An article in the Miami New Times summarizes those claims, notes the company's denial of them — and also notes that in 2003, the company filed a patent for " recombinant methods for expressing a functional sweet taste receptor. " That patent, for what is essentially an automated taste test, was granted in 2008. It mentions HEK 293, or Human Embryonic Kidney 293, a widely available cell line that was originally cultured in the early 1970s from a human embryo in the Netherlands.
