Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have been a lurker and not a regular reader since alot has been going on here and I can't keep up with my mail. I am mom to a 10 yr old NT daughter and a 5 year old son with autism, numerous food allergies, GI problems and now possible mito disorder. We have suffered 3 regressions with our son and the latest was a few weeks ago during his 3.5 week vacation from school. In this time, we have not only lost all our receptive language, but he no longer wants to play with toys and only wants to watch the same video over and over. The worst part though is that our son has become very aggressive towards us and himself. He is hitting himself very hard and banging his head into the ground. He no longer wants to go to school and is hitting and biting us. His dr thinks his regressions are due to mito since he has elevated lactic, uric, and pyruvate. We were advised to do a muscle skin biopsy. My question is that his doctor wants us to do it local (in Boston) as it is very difficult to fly with him. We have heard that atlanta and cleveland are better. I am not worried about the surgery, but my son obsesses about little scratches on his body and picks at them unrelentlessly. How will we handle a bandage with a wound. He will pick at the stitches until they are gone and the wound is open. I thought of making him wear long pants and taping him up, but he would wet his pants. First, is frozen that unreliable, and second, how do you keep your child from reinjuring the wound? Guest guest
Hi all, We are set to have our biopsy done on Aug 22nd. I am a bit nervous and am even more nervous about trying to keep him from pulling out the stitches! WE are doing the frozen sample in Boston because I could just not stand the wait in Cleveland is now 6 months to get an appt.
