My husband takes 4ap.  He has been taking for a couple years now.  It helps

him move better and he is not so fatigued with it in his system.  He is

wheelchair bound.  It's a positive for him and there is nothing else that helps

him at this time ~ Diane

Has anyone had any experience or have anything to report on Aminopyridine?

Yeah. Had 4A-P compounded at Skip's. It was the fast release (not the slow

release Ampyra that Big Pharma has out now). Got up to 15mg per day, but got so

dizzy that I was afraid to try going down the stairs to work. After a few

weeks, I stopped taking it. Did feel some nerve difference in the legs, but had

to give it up.

Afterwards I was sort of glad to not have to worry about the seizures that some

MS people have while on it.

My husband got up to 15 also, was short of breath, so we went back down to 12.5

3x/day, and has no problem and it does help him move better.~Diane

I was on 4AP for several years. I had instant compounded from Skip's in 5mg for

an instant pick-me-up to jumpstart my mornings. Then I had a slow release in

10mg compounded at Stark's. Their slow release seemed the closest to the new

expensive Ampyra (Fampyra). I took 10mgSR twice a day. I stopped after being

treated for ccsvi. Even though I didn''t have dramatic results, I no longer

needed the 4AP to function.

Thanks for the information! I am extremely drug sensitive but it may be worth a

try.
