Guest guest
Well this new model has no wires to worry about but it costs 7 times as much. Subject: Re: Bioness L 300 To: mscured Date: Wednesday, 14 September, 2011, 17:36 Â Had a opportunity to try a Bioness foot drop device. Unsure if were wireless or not. The model I " test-drove " had a battery pack that strapped onto my calf, then maybe wires that were maybe on the top of my foot? It's been a couple of years. The device had an electrical switch about my heal. When I removed the weight from my foot, it triggered the electrodes to lift my right foot. I was going to have to pay a thousand dollars or so. I politely declined. > > Hello > Â Does anyone have any experience with this wireless FES model? >
Guest guest
Mine doesn't have any wires. I purchased it two years ago. They don't make a model with wires. There is a foot sensor which has a small wire to the clip that holds it on to your shoe. Other than that no wires. Then there is the stim unit that you wear on your knee. There also is the control unit which I wear around my neck. It does help to strengthen the muscles slowly. I rarely use mine anymore since I don't need it much. Its mostly on a really bad MS day or very long hikes. You can find them used sometimes on ebay. But they have to be programed to your needs by plugging them into a computer with a PT. That allows you to control the strength of the stimulation. If I have a bad ms day, I might put it on one. But then if I am on a long walk by the end of the walk, I might have to increase it up to 5. There are nine levels of stimulation. It was well worth the price because at the time I purchased it I couldn't walk more than .25 of a mile without it. Otherwise I was tripping too often. With the device I was able to increase my strength to walk 3-4 miles. That seems to be my max though before MS symptoms hit and my body shuts down. If I wouldn't of had it, I would still be very limited as to how far I can walk. But since the prokarin, after maybe 3 months I rarely use the bioness as it has helped improve the foot drop that much. I also had it starting on my other leg and that is gone. The bioness I use when I travel too, as it decreases the amount of muscle fatigue so I can keep on going a lot farther.
