Guest guest
, could you tell me more about CCSVI, such as what to expect? There is a doctor here in Tampa, FL at the Moffit Cancer Center that does this, and I'm about to make an appointment with them to have my veins tested. I know this is not supposed to cure, but maybe stop progression? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has done CCSVI in Tampa, please let me know how it went. I'm nervous about trusting doctor's I don't know. Thanks! ----- Re: [MS_Community] Montel discusses controversial MS treatment - CTV News

interesting, yet again what works for some doesnt work for others, and at a cost, not a one-off, third party choice, never ever for me

good luck/peter/london/ppms

http\ ://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Health/20111023/montel-williams-ms-111023/

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

____________________________________________________________ Penny Stock Jumping 3000% Sign up to the #1 voted penny stock newsletter for free today! http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/4ea7fd3a1ce3ce26c01st04vuc
Guest guest
Hi I can't tell you definitively what to expect as results can be different for everyone. Both Janet and I who have had the procedure had similar but also differing results. It's important for you to ease back into exercise and to just rest/relax for a couple of weeks after the procedure (my surgeon's recommendation) and then after the healing period has passed, to start your physical exercise routine ensuring that you do not push yourself too much and that you remain sensible about how much and what you do.It is thought to stop progression. I would also recommend that you stay committed to the BBD or similar diet as it is hugely important to stick to it in order to stop restenosis. I'm a big believer in the BBD and steering clear of dairy in order to stop restenosis.*shrugs* This is just what I experienced and what I think - things with the procedure are different for everyone, but it's important to keep calm and stay away from stress and worrying about it.I hope this helps 'What we do in life, echoes through eternity.' Guest guest
, You ask what to expect. In non-scientific words -1) The tests - all straight forward. For the Doppler they just put gel on you and wire you up to get the ultrasound machine to read your insides. They'll do it with you sitting and lying down. Usually there is an MRI too and I had blood tests and an ecocardiogram in Poland and a few other little routine tests.2) The procedure - nothing to be worried about. They get you to shave the pubic area, give you a local anaesthic at the point of catheter entry, usually in the groin - a tiny little nick. You lie down on the couch and, certainly in my case, can watch it all on a screen. Run a catheter up the vein in the leg, usually the right, and into the offending internal jugular veins and/or azygous. Some places, notably some in the States, are also doing the iliacs and renal veins. When they get to an offending place where the blood is not flowing correctly due to a malformed or twisted vein, they insert a tiny balloon and inflate it then remove it once clear. Stents are an infrequent option (not advisable unless there is no other way). You feel the ballooning which is merely a little uncomfortable rather than painful. All in all it generally takes in the region of half to one hour.3) Post procedure - you have to lie flat on your back. In Poland this was for 6 hours plus a further 6 hours where movement was allowed if necessary. Some places let you go virtually as soon as they have finished.I was advised not to exercise at all for 2 weeks, drink plenty of water, and to stand or lie more than to sit (which I didn't do, being in a wheelchair but I'm still here).Exercise after that should be tempered but is necessary to get all the parts of the body working properly again.I (like ) am still on the BBD which I believe has helped me not re-stenose.4) What you get varies from person to person, the length and severity of the " MS " , size and situation of the problems in the offending vein/s, general health and diet.Go into it expecting that you might get some benefit but do not tell yourself this is a given, just be pleased with whatever you get and that it is probably stopping progression. I celebrated my 1st " angioversary " yesterday. A year on I feel amazing. It was well worth doing. All my symptoms have gone apart from still not being able to balance, and therefore not walk. I continue daily exercises and the healthy diet and feel that it will take a while longer to 100% reverse 16 years of PPMS.Good luck!Janet To: mscured From: tazeeyore@...
