Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Re: /message/9332 I thank D.Padmavathy, the president of Tamilnadu Positive Women Network for raising this critical issue in this forum and i hope this will create space for a deeper dialogue and attention. I am of the opinion that caring for caregivers is one of the most neglected, least-concern issue in India's HIV program whether it is PLHIV care givers or non-PLHIV care givers. Caregivers are also vulnerable people. They are constantly exposed to health, emotional, social and spiritual risks. A physical ailment is often a menifestation of social and emotional breakdown. Care givers MUST have access to care - whether health or others. As a comrade in this battle, I feel ashamed and deeply pained that caregivers - in your case counselors and outreach workers are exposed to not just diseases and infections but also negligence and indefference from the larger HIV programs. All of us in the field should take this concern seriously and address it collectively.
