Vacancy for Programme Officer (Training) for Railway Children

Railway Children is a UK based international development agency working with

organisations and initiatives that work with children at risk around transport

terminals with the underlying theme of early intervention and family

reintegration. Our vision is a world of safety and opportunity for children

alone and at risk on the streets.

Railway Children works with 39 organisations in 6 countries at over 55 project

locations.

Our mission in India is to work with our partners and other organisations to

ensure care, protection and developmental opportunities for children at key

transport terminals. We currently work with 19 partner organizations at over 48

key locations in India and more than 16000 children. We have two national

training programmes  :

Ehsaas – Training programme which assists our partners for integration of the

issues of psychological safety, sexuality and prevention of HIV/AIDS/STIs into

current programmes.

Samyak - Pathfinders programme – Training programme for regional workshops for

field level workers of partner programmes to build a learning community of

reflective and effective practitioners of change in children‘s lives in India

and share best practices.

 

Our partner support programme provides hands on assistance in planning,

reviewing and development of existing programmes. We aim to inform, inspire,

improve, innovate, initiate and influence sound practice in programmes. Our role

in different partnerships with implementing organisations, initiatives, donors

and civil society is varied depending on the context and purpose. Our country

office in Mumbai has a team of 11 members.

 

We are looking for 1 Programme Officer - Training for India.

 

Programme Officer (Training) - 1

 

Key responsibilities include delivering training programmes which focus on

building knowledge, attitudes and skills with sensitivity on issues of child

care and protection, planning programmes relevant to partner needs and

creatively documenting results and processes. The candidate should have good

understanding of the street children sector, would preferably have a background

in theatre/art for development and should be able to think ‘out of the box.’

Other responsibilities include assistance in conceptualisation of training

methodologies and monitoring skills.

 

Requirements:

At least four years’ experience of work on children’s issues and related areas

is mandatory.

Post-graduate with social sciences background preferably Psychology.

Strong networking and interpersonal skills.

Good language proficiency in English, Hindi and some regional languages.

Strong documentation skills.

Knowledge of Monitoring and Review systems.

Knowledge of organisational development. 

Willingness to travel for about 10 days a month/less.

Flexibility and ability to work in a team.

Emotional stability and ability to work under pressure.

Candidates above 27 years of age and only from Mumbai need apply.
