Admissions Open for " Leadership In Public Health Management " certificate program. This program is now offered in two structures, a WEEKEND course, which will be held over full teaching days on Saturday, and half days on Sundays during January – June 09 and the REGULAR PART TIME course, which will be for 10 weeks and will be spread over 24 weeks during the period January – June 2009. The course is certified & approved by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, South Asia Public Health Leadership Institute at Avni Health Foundation, Dr. S. Nayar School of Public Health (Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences), Seth G.S Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai, LTMMC & LTMGH (Sion Hospital), Mumbai and technically supported by Sparkman Center for Global Health, School of Public Health, University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA and Vanderbilt University Institute for Global Health, School of Medicine, USA. This unique program accepts graduates* and equips candidates with the management skills and leadership required to design, plan, manage and oversee public health programs in addition to building technical capacity on public health issues. Considering that there is no dearth of resources but poor health systems management and limited accountability channels the course is designed to create leaders who can take on the systemic public health challenges that face the country. Both courses will cover the following 8 modules - Introduction to Public Health, Leadership and Management, Behavior Change Communication, Research Methodology including Monitoring & Evaluation, Reproductive and Child Health, Tuberculosis and Other Communicable Diseases, RTI/STI, HIV/AIDS and Life Style Disorders, Professional Development. An individual doing this course; • Develops and strengthens effective leadership qualities backed by practical field oriented solutions for programmatic interventions, conceptualizing and operationalizing the integration of activities of the public health programs. • Is able to prepare project plans, strategies, tactics, activities with budgets and monitoring and control mechanisms. • Is able to prepare BCC plans. • Is able to use – Power point, Excel, SPSS, and EpiInfo. • Based on information and analytical reports is able to facilitate prompt and effective corrective actions for the purpose of planning. • Gets exposed to both rural and urban public health challenges and their management. • Gets exposed to International & National faculty. • Benefits through an overall Personality Development eg.
