About AHF India Cares 'India Cares' under the aegis of AIDS Healthcare Foundation was established in 2004 in India and registered as a Trust in 2006 in New Delhi. The Trust carries forward the vision and mission of AHF. The HIV/AIDS epidemic in India is estimated to be 2.4 million and increasing number of people falling sick need care and treatment. Changing the course of the HIV epidemic of such enormous scale and measures cannot be restricted to prevention and awareness alone as people are dying. People living with HIV and AIDS require treatment, care and support. Denial of treatment and discrimination in accessing healthcare is rampant and prohibitive medical expenses points to an acute need for treatment and care for such people. We in 'AHF India Cares' enable people living with HIV and AIDS to gain access to health care services free of cost. Job Description: Position # 1: Testing Coordinator Key qualifications: * Graduate/ Postgraduate - MBBS/Social Work with intimate knowledge of HIV, Familiarity with HIV disease, HIV prevention theory, HIV treatment options * Comfortable working with people of all ages and ethnicities, MSM, high risk women, men and young people on the streets, experience in a supervisory role. * Must posses an adequate computer skills including use of internet/ e-mail application and MS-Office software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint,etc.; * Ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple priorities while working as part of a team; * Team player service-minded and able to work under pressure; * Available to start working in September 2008 Roles and Responsibilities: Includes the following: 1. Monitor Program Activities in relation to AHF India Cares and HIV Testing Initiative objectives 2. Collate data for reports 3. Keep accurate records of activities 4. Status reports on projects 5. Represent agency in applicable forums and meetings 6. Develop/Sustain relations with community agencies and leaders 7. Training HIV Testing Staff/Outreach Workers 8. Participate in planning activities 9. Plan/maintain calendar of events for programs 10.Assist other supervisors in their duties as needed 11.Research and assist with program grant writing related HIV testing 12.Participate in AHF India Cares staff meetings 13.Supervise/Monitor materials inventory 14.Conduct regular meetings with other community agencies 15.Provide Structured Individual Supervision of HIV Testing staff 16.Monitor expenses for directly supervised HIV Testing programs run across the country 17.Ensure results are followed up in all sites 18.Ensure timely data entry on activities and/or in-house databases 19.Specific HIV Testing Related Activities Including but not limited to: a. Facilitate Workshops b. Train Volunteer Facilitators c. Provide HIV Test Counseling to clients d. Assist/Coordinate HIV/STD Testing events e. Monitor/review HIV Testing client files for accuracy f. Ensure testing records are submitted to Country Project Coordinator g. Provide appropriate referrals to clients h. Facilitate client/volunteer surveys i. Assist with Special Projects 20. Other duties as assigned by the Country Project Coordinator Position # 2: Advocacy Assistant Key Qualifications: 1. Bachelors or Masters degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Communications, Public Relations or related field 2. A good knowledge of HIV and AIDS is required as a development and human rights issue; knowledge of governance issues, especially from a rights based approach; ability in policy analysis, development and implementation, especially as they relate to HIV and AIDS, and understanding of the implications of gender inequalities when working with issues relating to HIV and AIDS is desirable. 3. Report writing and prioritizing skills; good interpersonal and communications skills; and a willingness and ability to work as part of a team and to share skills is very essential. 4. Non-profit work experience, experience working with community groups and business leaders in collaborative efforts is desirable 5. Previous experience in public affairs or government relations is desirable 6. Must posses an adequate computer skills including use of internet/ e-mail application and MS-Office software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.. 7. Team player service-minded and able to work under pressure. 8. Available to start working in September 2008 Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Provide support to all advocacy related activities , legal services for PLHAs and other marginalized groups in AHF India Cares; 2. Assist and Promote AHF India Cares treatment, care and support services to the community and to institutions both at local and national level; 3. Assist in the establishment of advocacy groups, networks, strengthen linkages, conduct outreach to other NGOs and community based organizations (CBOs) to expand the vision and mission of AHF India Cares; 4. Assist in the field outreach activities of AHF India Cares - such as the Positive Link Project to achieve greater goals; 5. Assist in the marketing and promotion of AHF India Cares initiatives such as the P2Rx - the Second Line Treatment Program for AIDS Activist, the Positive Lounge, Public Health Initiative e.g. HIV Testing Campaign in India etc.; 6. Actively participate, assist in weekly monthly support group meetings, attend positive groups meetings on behalf of AHF India Cares, conduct individual and groups education sessions on positive speaking and providing skills in public speaking for HIV patients; 7. Provide weekly, monthly and other reports regularly and keep AHF India Cares updated in advocacy related information; 8. Assist in the initiation and establishment of a consortium of NGOs involved in HIVAIDS treatment, care and support in India; 9. Assist in the operations of AHF India Cares initiative - 'Grievance Redressal Cell for PLHAs' (GRCP) ; 10. Assist in advocacy related research and documentation of legal, human rights issues; 11. And any other task assigned from time to time; 12. Provide technical support a. To identify key issues to advocate on, b. Other duties as assigned by the Advocacy Coordinator Position # 3: Counselor (1 Male and 1 Female) Key Qualifications: 1. A Graduate, MSW, Psychology, Sociology from a recognized institute. 2. At least 2 to 3 years experience in providing counseling services in HIVAIDS pre- post test counseling, ART adherence counseling in nursing care in hospital or clinics or in AIDS NGOs 3. Must posses an adequate computer skills including use of internet/ e-mail application and MS-Office software, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.; 4. Ability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple priorities while working as part of a team. 5. Team player service-minded and able to work under pressure; 6. Available to start working in September 2008 Roles and Responsibilities: Includes the following: 1. Provide counseling services to Clients. 2. Provide pre and post test, ART and PPMTC counseling for patients ensuring patient confidentiality. 3. Provide additional psycho social support required face to face or on the phone including partner and family counseling. 4. Provides basic referrals for additional non medical services (including legal services). 5. Insure that all clients receive the appropriate follow up counseling services. Conducts individual and group education sessions on-site and off-site at various local facilities. 6. Participate in Medical Staff Meeting 7. Other duties may be assigned. Position # 4: Laboratory Technician Key Qualifications: Qualifications: 1. Must possess a degree/diploma in medical Laboratory technology (DMLT) or an equivalent from a recognized institute 2. Must have experience in phlebotomy and blood collection techniques for at least 1 year. 3. Experience with flow cytometry procedures (CD4 Count) advantageous but training can be provided. 4. Experience in HIV Testing procedures (ELISA/Western Blot/ Rapid Immunological tests) is desirable. 5. Excellent communication, organizational & record keeping skills 6. Professional experience as a lab technician in a recognized hospital/clinic for more than 1 year is advantageous. Roles and Responsibilities: Includes the following: 1. Laboratory maintenance and organization 2. Collect Blood Samples 3. Perform Routine Blood tests 4. ELISA/Western blot analysis of clinical samples 5. Maintain Laboratory Inventory and Client Test report 6. Perform CD4 Count Tests and Analysis. 7. Assist the Medical Officer in clinical data maintenance. 8. Other duties may be assigned.
