Guest guest
I'm still RRMS as far as I know and the pain I experienced went away once I started on LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone). That'd be my suggestion, as well as getting on the Best Bet Diet or the Wahls' diet (whichever suits you best and helps YOU best).Diet has a HUGE part to play in our regaining our lives - CCSVI is also something I always suggest people be tested for too.:)I know what you mean about taking tablets - but I now only take supplements which aid me greatly - no pain killers for me. Guest guest
Don't forget the Swank diet. It was first and probably best. Dr. Jelinek has expanded on it and his work is very interesting. His mother had ms and he also has ms. He a doctor. Guest guest
lol why do you say that the Swank diet is 'the best'?I looked into it and chose the BBD as it made more sense to me (was more restrictive and weighed in better with what I knew my body struggled with) and I ruled out the Swank diet as it allowed too much (that seemed too 'easy' to me and I wanted results!).I personally chose the BBD as I read the behind it and because I knew it would work best for ME - that's the thing, each person should choose a diet which we can see will work best or each of us individually. In this way, we can decide what works for US each best - as we all know, each person's 'MS' is different and what works for one person won't necessarily produce the same results for another. The Best Bet Diet has a lot of research behind it (his son has 'MS') and Terry Wahls has 'MS' too. Each diet is different and there is no way to rate which is 'the best' overall because it is a thing which has to relate to each person on an individual basis. Research all of them and weigh them up against what YOUR body will respond best to, and give it a try! Try another if that doesn't work. Give each one at the least from 3-6mths to rate improvements. An important thing is to get food allergy tested before you begin if you're not aware of your intolerances and remember to look into the supplements you should be taking too - these give huge benefits too. Guest guest
If interested in the Swank diet, also investigate Dr. McDougall. He's taken Swank's research, expanded it and worked with it for years now. OHSU is currently conducting a double-blind study on the efficacy of an extremely low-fat, plant-based diet for MS. This is the diet that I follow, though not as religiously as I should. I was diagnosed in 1975 and have some problems but am still reasonably active and functioning. McDougall recommends his diet for *many* health problems, especially obesity. I know two people with rheumatoid arthritis whose RA went into remission after following this diet and who swear by it. Guest guest
It sounds good Ann.I've been really good with cutting out everything that the BBD eliminates and have had good results but am looking into other ways now as well, just to see what other success can be gained from a raw foods diet too.Pleased that you've researched the dietary route so well - it helps everyone to hear of it! Guest guest
A. McDougall, M.D., is an American physician and author whose philosophy is that degenerative disease can be prevented and treated with a plant-based diet of whole, unprocessed, low-fat foods, especially starches such as potatoes, rice, and beans, and which excludes all animal foods (except honey) and added vegetable oils. (Wikipedia) Add some raw foods into your diet, , but this diet scares me. >
Guest guest
Hi Don't fret hun - I was merely giving a pat on the back to the person who had researched and found a diet which worked for her.I am still researching what I wish to do based on MY body's needs (I can NEVER follow any diets due to them....'til I found the BBD) - we shall see! :)Thanks for the concern though hun (don't forget the extra 'a'!) lol 'What we do in life, echoes through eternity.' Guest guest
I never heard of the Swank diet. I do think I read about a long time ago and I had to restrict my diet even more than he suggests. Diet does help so much plus any level of exercise seems to help alot. Thanks everyone. I am trying to be far more careful lately with what I eat. > > > > > > > >I'm still RRMS as far as I know and the pain I > >experienced went away once I started on LDN (Low > >Dose Naltrexone).
