Guest guest
Pat-- I admit up front that I have a strong bias in favor of Dr. Rutledge. But I also know well people who had WLS with an open procedure over the last several years. The recovery time is much longer. You'll probably be out of commission for about 6 weeks, maybe longer. The advantage with the lap is that, if you have surgery on Mon, by the weekend you'll probably be going home almost completely back to normal, except for eating very little and being mostly on liquids. The lodging for the time when you're not in the hospital will probably be under $300 for the entire week. There is the issue of airfare, but you can probably find a pretty good rate. All in all, I think the trip is worth it. Being in town, I'll be glad to help you as much as I can. We're just about the same age and I have 2 children 8 & 9. But it's entirely up to you. You're the one who has to decide. I know it's hard. Katy
Guest guest
Hi All, Kathy here from Statesville, NC Post Op, surgery with Dr. Rutleged 1/6/99 Pre-op weight 330, down 57 pounds! Married to a wonderful man, have a typical, very cute (if I may say so) 13 year old son. We also have 2 cats and the newest addition to our family is a golden retriever, named Chloe, shes 10 weeks old this week. Moved to NC a little over a year ago from MA, love it down here! Currently not working, been disabled since late 94 with CFIDS (chronic fatigue immune dysfunction), also have Fibromyalgia. Hoping that once the majority of this excess weight comes off I'll be able to become more active, hoping to work again! hugs, Kathy

Guest guest
Hey ! Nice stats! Congrats! Dawn who's PRAYING it doesn't rain! Roll Call Hi there I don't know Lyssa but I wanted to put my 2 cents in and say something in her defense. My husband has run a 'list' as well and it's rather annoying to get notes from egroups saying " This person's mailbox is full " and it happened quite often--it results in a lot more mail on the part of the list owner and I think Lyssa's intent was right....but everyone seems to be jumping down her throat. It's a lot of work to run a list such as this and if you don't like her views, then constructively say something. There isn't a need to never write because you don't agree with someone. Lots of people have discussions on here and while I am, for the most part, a lurker (I, too, have 3 kids and work full time outside the home) but I do try and contribute when I feel I have something to say--such as now. This is one of the friendliest, nicest lists I have been on (if anyone has seen " " in action, you know what else is out there) and everyone is supportive of everyone else. Let's keep it that way! Now, let's all try and have a great weekend (pretend it's not going to rain!) and enjoy the sunshine today. Guest guest
Thanks M! I'm glad you don't think I was being a Tyrant because honestly that wasn't my intention. You hit the nail on the head with what I was trying to do .. but for now I'll try something else and we'll just see how it works out. Looking good in those middle # s too girl! Keep it up.
