Guest guest
The company's that advertise electric wheel chairs on television, will hire busses and physicians, drive to retirement homes, then have the physicians sign for the chairs. Medicare has rules where the chairs MUST only be used inside. Not outside like the commercials show. I had a medicare person laugh at me when I commented how I ride my scooter a half mile to the grocery store. I worte a check for my last scooter so I can use MY scooter anyway I darn well please ! Guest guest
I have had my scooter for the past 2 years. I got it free through the MS Societies " loan closet " . They made a point to say it was temporary and I needed to actively pursue getting one through Medicare. That was over a year ago. I don't know what I'd do if my scooter was repossessed. The restrictions for a Medicare scooter are what they are. If your states MS Society has a " loan closet " program check it out. Guest guest
Mind if I share what you wrote (citing you of course!) on my blog Tom? And 'SirR', - seriously, we're not supposed to take our power chairs outside?! in Nebraska > > Messed-up regulations
Guest guest
?? " The following rules now apply to these power wheelchairs... " ?? I'm curious to know your source. Where can these claims be verified? What document can be cited? Guest guest
You can also get really nice scooters (power wheelchairs) for a decent price by checking craigslist and other resources on-line. I am very fortunate to not need a wheelchair at this time (and hopefully never), but my husband has been having a problem with his foot and is trying to keep off of it as much as possible. He decided to buy a power wheelchair and kept checking craigslist. Eventually we ended up with a practically brand new power wheelchair for $650. This wheelchair (I think it's called a Pronto M41 with SureStep), is supposedly worth at least 3-4 thousand dollars brand new. The guy who owned it before us bought it brand new and he was very elderly and died shortly after he got it, so it was still in brand new condition when we bought it (just last week). It can go approx. 25 miles on one charge, so we take it to theme parks with us when we take the kids. ) ----- Re: power wheelchairs, etc....Fort Myers News Press Date: Mon, 21 May 2012 02:20:39 -0700 (PDT) <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC " -//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN " " http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd " > I have had my scooter for the past 2 years. & #65533;I got it free through the MS Societies " loan closet " . & #65533;They made a point to say it was temporary and & #65533;I needed to actively pursue getting one through Medicare. & #65533;That was over a year ago. & #65533;I don't know what I'd do if my scooter was repossessed. & #65533;The restrictions for a Medicare scooter are what they are. & #65533;If your states MS Society has a " loan closet " program check it out. & #65533; Mike Macchiarella
Guest guest
I bought mine too! Even renting them is not affordable for some people. I tried to rent one when mine was out of commission last month and the rental fee was $150/day plus the cost of getting it to me! > > > > Messed-up regulations > > This upcoming election is without doubt the most important election of our life..... > > >

Guest guest
Dear Group:     I have been very blessed in this area and cant complain here. I'm a vet. and I have been given a power wheelchair, a metal ramp outside of my home, a power lift for the wheelchair on our van and a hospital bed. They have truly helped me out. Sincerely, J.
