Guest guest
Hi to everyone, I have a question that is not diabetes related but blindness related. What do those of you who live in the States use to mark appliances? Here in Canada, we have plastic bumps that can be stuck to the surface of whatever you are marking, but they fall off after a while. When I first lost my sight 20 years ago, we had highlighter which came in a tube and was a bright orange-red. After applying it to the surface it would harden. There was something that was toxic in it and they took it off the market up here. The replacement highlighter was not very good and it runs all over the place. What are you guys using who live in the States and where can you get it? Thanks. Ruth
Guest guest
Ruth, if you want this rather permanent, I would try using a glue stick or drop of glue on the appliance and then use the adhesive. That is how I put labels on CD's and I have never had one come off. question need info Hi to everyone, I have a question that is not diabetes related but blindness related. Guest guest
Hi Ruth, If you are wanting your dot to stay on forever, you could try putting a dab of crazy glue under it before sticking it down. I know there is also a product called Hi Marks but I've only ever used the small bump dots. You could also do a small braille label on the adhesive labelling material and stick that on in place of the dot, which has the advantage of giving you a bit of additional information if you can read braille. Guest guest
Hi Ruth, puff paint which you can get from craft shops, comes in different colours, and dries much the same as Hi-mark. When it dries, it puffs up. You can also use nail polish, which you need to build up in layers. question need info Hi to everyone, I have a question that is not diabetes related but blindness related. Guest guest
Hi Jen, That highmark is the stuff that isn't worth a damn anymore. It just runs all over the place, so if you need to mark something, don't waste your money on it. Guest guest
puff paint works well. I think some of the catalogs blind persons use call it marker pens or something like that. You can also get them in craft sections of mega marts (Walmart and the like). question need info Hi to everyone, I have a question that is not diabetes related but blindness related.
