Guest guest
Hi all, Just going to jitter to you. Since yesterday I have been having more contractions than usual and so my OB prescribed terbutaline. DH is down at the druggist's getting it for me right now. The last 2 hours have been nerve wracking with unprovoked tightenings 8-12 minutes apart. That's not counting the tightening I feel every time I change position. Argh! I hope the terbutaline works fast and you don't need too much of it. Hang in there. Becki 25, UU

The terbutaline calmed things down a bit, but boy do I have the shakes. It's funny to be so clumsy and yet so sober. I just wish I knew if these contractions were moving in to stay. Dr. says my cervix at 4 cm and with a stitch can take quite a bit of contracting, but I wish things were calmer. Am taking to bed until I know what's what. Heike, you sound like me after a BFN. When AF comes, I get all cheered up by the prospect of a fresh start. Hang in there. Beth SU
Guest guest
Beth- I have been thinking about you all week, knowing that this was a crucial time for you and Noelbaby. Hang in there and let the terb get things under control. Sounds like your cervix is doing well under the pressure....but i'm sending you a mini-padlock anyway. Hoping today is a better day! Guest guest
beth, Glad to see your doctor eased up his stance on contraction medication. I have taken the medication for 20 weeks or more (not just terb - a combination). Terb works wonders - but the first couple of days you are going to be pretty wired. The first three to four days I always felt as if I had drank twelve cups of coffee and then ran a mile. Sometimes my skin would get flushed too. Thankfully this does go away and the only thing that remains is no contractions YEAH!!! and a perpetually grumpy pregnant mommy WAHHHH!!. This may not happen to you but I found that I was always a royal PITA on terb. I am suprised my DH didn't divorce because everything he did bothered me. But the grumpiness is worth it because terb can keep you pregnant a LONG time. When you start breaking through the oral meds you can even move to the terb pump (kind of like an IV pump). I just thought of something else - my first medication (what I take now as needed) is a low dose of Albuterol 2 mg. up to every four hours. It is not near as strong as terb so the side effects are less. THen when I start breaking through the Albuterol I move to terb pills. Some doctors go straight to terb but this is another option. Everyone is different but usually I can get a good ten weeks out of Albuterol before moving on to the big stuff. Whatever you go with I hope it takes care of your contractions!!
