This may make your day!

This really doesn't have much to do with Chiari, but I thought I'd

share with you. Sunday night I was awaken by a swooshing in my ear.

I thought it was just water or something, so I turned my head. But,

everytime I turned, I felt something MOVING in my EAR!!!!! I totally

started freaking OUT!!! I instantly starting jumping up and down

like

I was trying to get water out of my ear, I was literally pulling off

my ear in terror!! Then I stopped for a second and thought I better

stop because I'll give myself whiplash or something and aggravate my

herniation. But, I couldn't calm down. This god-forsaken sound

continued in my ear and I suddenly felt like I belonged in One Flew

Over the Cookoo's Nest...I lost it. I wanted it out. I frantically

woke up my husband and he couldn't calm me down. He then proceeded

to

ask me if this may be a SYMPTOM OF MY CHIARI!!! I almost punched him,

I told him, " I'm not a lunatic, and this has nothing to do with my

brain, there's definately a bug in my ear!!! " After a few more

minutes, he took me to the emergency room. Long story short....

Good news...the bug was out (I later found it in my room on the

carpet)...the Bad News...It BIT MY EARDRUM AND IT WAS BLEEDING!!

I'm now using antibiotic drops for my ear for 5 days. I laugh about

it

now...but, I would go through labor again before going through that

again. I thought I only heard of these freaky stories on the

internet. My doc joked with me and said, " Maybe I'll see you in 6

weeks when the eggs hatch.... " I almost vomitted....

Have a Great Day!

Elaine,

Bugs in ears are no fun. If it happens again, squirt some water in your ear to

drown the sucker and float him out. Saw this happen on a golf course once. One

of the guys in the foursome filled his mouth with water and blew it into the

bugged guy's ear. It worked quite well. Before that the guy as you experienced

was freaking out.

My brother'-in-law got a beetle bug in his ear once. He had to go to the ER.

Afterwards, he had major headaces for awhile. He was not a happy camper.

peace and grace
