Guest guest
Could you be feeling (gasp!) 'relaxed' instead?!? Guest guest
Press, NO, do not feel guilty and lazy. This is a natural part of fitness - you're going to have times when you're gung ho about it and times when it's a chore. I did 6 days a week when I first started, but I've since settled into 4 days a week BECAUSE I found the 6 day a week became too much of a chore and a burden too quickly. Plus just plain LIFE gets in the way sometimes, so I reserve all my chores and " life " and errands for my " off gym " days and take care of them then. As for the issue of " enough " - the latest studies say " enough " is TEN MINUTES A DAY!! Sure, you'll see better results if you do more, but 10 a day of something physically active is ALL it takes to maintain your physical health, so quit beating yourself up for this readjustment period. Sounds like your body's just telling you it's time for a shift. Everyone's workout routine needs some adjusting and re-examination and such every once in a while - figure out why your body is screaming at you that it's time for a change, and what that change should be. This is an opportunity to turn a page, not a reason to be unkind to yourself.
Guest guest
Gym, I think you might be right. Also, thanks for the pep talk and reminder. Look at you, you Yoda of the IE board! LOL! I think I'm just gonna roll with it right now. Maybe my body needs to do a bit less right now. > > Press, NO, do not feel guilty and lazy. Guest guest
Katcha, Pfft? You're asking me? The only time I was super relaxed was when I was hospitalized with severe abdomnal pains. I was jacked up on heavy duty narcotics and let me say, it was the most mellow and peaceful I ever was in my entire life. Ha! Sad but true! > > Could you be feeling (gasp!) 'relaxed' instead?!? Guest guest
You're welcome! I'm trying out the weight routines in " The New Rules of LIfting for Women " . It's waaay less volume than I'm used to doing. He also stresses not doing too much and the importance of recovery. > > Press, thanks for the SMILE today! Guest guest
I say, listen to what your body is telling you. If you are tired, you probably need to rest. If you are burnt out, it is ok to take a break for a while. I know I have the fear that if I don't work out for a period of time I will stop all together. I have learned to listen to my body and my body lets me know when it needs to move. --Alana -------------- Original message -------------- Okay. Guest guest
Good post, Alana and I also share that fear that if I take some time off I won't start up again. Some things for me to remember! > > > I say, listen to what your body is telling you. If you are tired, you probably need to rest. If you are burnt out, it is ok to take a break for a while. Guest guest
I don't feel so guilty about doing the 15 min 1 mile Walk Away the Pounds video now! I have the 1 hour/4 mile one but I find that too long sometimes (the thought of an hour long workout makes me not want to do anything). I found this 15 min one in a bargain store on VHS for $3 last week. I figured it was worth the $3 and I've done it twice already. Better to be doing that than nothing at all I figured! But I still felt guilty thinking I shoudl be doing more.gymisadrug wrote: As for the issue of "enough" - the lateststudies say "enough" is TEN MINUTES A DAY!! . Be smarter than spam. Guest guest
Gotta chime in here.... I LOVE the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. I have probably 10 of them. is great!!! As far as the exercise bit goes, I suffer from mild depression and I find that exercising every morning makes a world of difference for me. I usually get up at 5 and then at 5:30 work out for about 1/2 hour...sometimes light weights, sometimes the Sansone ones, but always some sort of DVD. Once I got into the habit of it I find that I crave it. This week I've had to work at 7:30 so I haven't been able to do it for several days and I am missing it something awful. Guest guest
I have the 1 mile and the 2 mile walk video and I usually do the 2 mile but the last couple of days I have done the 1 mile and then lifted weights a bit more. I am a bit sore today....:-) But I think I am doing enough and I am not going to get upset. :-) Michele --- Kipkabob wrote: > I don't feel so guilty about doing the 15 min 1 mile > Walk Away the Pounds video now! Guest guest
I agree- more isnt necessarily better. what ever makes your body feel good is the right amount. I've over done it exercising many times and I just felt sore for days and tired. Also, I know we're not supposed to be focused on weight but I just heard a fitness trainer say on one of my new DVDs that how your body looks is 80 percent what you eat and 20 percent exercise. If you're doing IE and exercising a little then you're doing GREAT!
