Guest guest
I have vowed to stick this out for 2 more days, but then I really have to wonder if it isn't hurting me. Please help! Dawn Dawn I did not lose one single lb until my 3rd week on Atkins. Don't get discouraged and don't compare your success with others.....Just keep up the good work and stick with it. 240/173/150 6-16-
Guest guest
Men always lose faster than women, so don't ever compare your loss to DH's! :-) Any medication can slow weight loss, so you may be on to something there. Also, if you are close to your period (TOM) that will have a big effect on loss (or lack there of, even a gain from water retention). Why don't you post your daily menus for us to look over and see if we can find any trouble spots. 249.5/206.9/135LC since 6/26/00http://www.geocities.com/rhiannon828/index.htm
Guest guest
I don't know how " scientific " it is, but it's a darn near certain fact that men lose more quickly than women. My DH (when he stays on plan) loses *much* faster than I do... and YES IT DOES BUG ME (grrrr). Not everyone loses A LOT of weight during induction... there are many folks who lose only a few pounds during those 14 days. Your medication may be a factor as well and if you have to take it, well, you just have to take it - that's the way it is. Many folks following Atkins are on medications that Dr. A says will slow down the weight loss... the important thing is don't stop taking your meds unless YOUR DOCTOR tells you to... until then, keep taking them and just accept that your weight loss may be a lil slower. And that's ok :-) a slow loss is better than ANY kind of gain, right? I'm sure a lot of other list members will reply to your message as well. In the meantime, patience and persistence are the key. Stay true to the plan and the plan will be true to you. Good Luck -Marlena in DC 210/175/150 ----Original Message Follows---- From: mkdawnt@... Reply-To: Atkins_Support_List To: Atkins_Support_List Subject: I need help Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 15:25:39 -0000 Okay, here is my situation, maybe someone can help. Dh and I started the Atkins diet Saturday 2/10. Dh has lost 9lbs. and I have lost 2lbs. I am in ketosis, but not losing weight, I lost the 2 in the first 3 days, but then I haven't lost anymore, in fact this am I gained .5 so now I have only lost 1.5 I am really starting to wonder if this diet is not for me. I do have to take medications for asthma and a bad sinus condition, maybe this is what is messing me up? but I have to take them. I am drinking about 72oz of water a day, eating the same thing dh is...so why is he losing and I am not? I have vowed to stick this out for 2 more days, but then I really have to wonder if it isn't hurting me. Please help! Guest guest
So you have been on Atkins for about a week and a half? How much do you have to lose? How old are you? What has been your past dieting history (both long-term and how you were eating right before you started Atkins)? Medications may have an impact on your rate of loss - if that's the case, all you can do is stick to plan and accept that you will lose weight more slowly. Men lose faster than women - generally (if anything about weight loss can be called general) about twice as fast - so don't compare yourself to him! Why do you think Atkins may be hurting you? Can you give us an example of EVERYTHING you eat or drink in a day (perhaps what you had yesterday and what you are planning for today) so that we can see if you may have some potential trouble spots. Guest guest
Here is what I ate yesterday: One Deviled egg 2 slices of cheddar cheese Tuna with Mayo and Mustard 2 slices of swiss cheese 1 table spoon of peanut butter (low carb) Chicken Sour Cream Mac Nuts maybe 1/2 cup all day 2 cups Decaf Coffee with 1/2 & 1/2 with stevia Today I have had: 2 hard boiled eggs 3 slices of white cheddar cheese tons of water!!! It is almost TOM, so maybe that is the hold up. ugggg!!! I want to loose around 25lbs. I am 5'4 and 154/152/130, buy May, because we are taking a great cruise! So of course I want to get into a bathing suit and some of those great dresses that don't fit right now. Thanks! Dawn
Guest guest
Two days? It took longer than that to PUT the weight ON you! Be brave, eat your veggies! Have you tried looking at the Turtle Menus? The link to them is at the bottom of the message. They are wonderful for planning your induction menus.
