Guest guest
Hello dlvernon@... (Diane), In reference to your comment: è Color me paranoid, but this is scaring the bejeezus è outta me!! If you're paranoid, I guess that makes me paranoid too. The one thought that has been running through my mind since I heard about this is I'm remember how when I was in high school we used to have bomb drills and took tours of the bomb shelter in the high school. Yes, I'm dating myself... this was in the 60s. Kinda makes me wish we had a few bomb shelters handy right now. This is scaring the bejesus out of me too. There has been war in my lifetime (Vietnam), and I hope we're not gearing up for another one. Jan " Typing is my life " (said sarcastically) Remember... Diane, I thought about Midland this morning, having the same thoughts that you did about Dow Chemical. I'm originally from Midland and my family still lives there, I use to work at Dow. I live in Pearl City, HI at the present, and my husband is in the military. Had serious thoughts of keeping my kids home from school today, but since the state didn't close them I went ahead and sent them anyway. I watch CNN and can't believe that this is really happening. It's a very sad day. Laurilee

Diane....they live near the intersection of M-20 and Meridian road. I left Midland when I was 21, that was about 23 years ago. I went to high school at Bullock Creek. It is a small world, my eyes couldn't believe it when they saw that town and state name. Laurilee

Might be another couple of years. I told my husband the only time I leave this island is when it's time to go back to the mainland for good. (I don't like flying.) Guest guest
Diane, Where in Minnesota is your hubby? I live about 60 miles north of St. /Minneapolis and this whole thing has me very scared as the IDS building in Mpls., the Federal Trade Building, the Mall of America, and the University of Minnesota in the St. / Mpls. area have all been shut down and evacuated. The idea of heading north to Canada for a few days has seriously crossed my mind several times today. I suppose I should start working now. I haven't typed one report today yet as I have been glued to the T.V. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and your families. -- Update, not much, though! According to the news, the Palestinian Libertarians have been contacted and they are not claiming responsiblity for this, as initially reported on the news. They still have no idea who is doing this. I'm particularly worried about my home town. We live in Midland, Michigan, and have one of the world's largest chemical companies about 5 miles from my house, Dow Chemical Company, both the chemical plant itself and the world headquarters and corporate center. Of course, I'd like to think this is small peanuts compared to what could possibly happen (and I certainly don't want ANYTHING to happen to ANYBODY!!) My hubby is in Minnesota until Friday, just a couple hours south of the Canadian border. It may sound silly now, but if anything happens, at least I can be rest assured he will (hopefully) think of just going north and camping out for a while. Color me paranoid, but this is scaring the bejeezus outta me!!
