getting u/s than since ins now will not allow me to have in office. I

(hopefully later in the week) I also have class tomorrow, at 6:00

(sure hope the dr is on time) Last time we were they for almost 2 1/2

hours, but they did do u/s on me even though they were not suppose

to. Anyway, I will not get home from school until about 10:00 so I

will try to post update. I hope everyone is doing ok. Take care.

,

Good luck at the dr today! Are they going to try and hear the h/b with the doppler today? I can't wait to hear your update.

Love & hugs,

Jo-Ann, thanks. I didn't think I would get to hear or see the heartbeat, since dr said ins would no longer pay for u/s in office, I figured I would have to set up an apt with hospital, I was thrilled when she said, "you know what, I want to get an u/s on you anyway" I felt so much better!!! Just wish my dh would be been there to hear and see. I figured I was just having exam so I told him not to come. Thanks, Jo-Ann. , about your dh missing the u/s I just wanted to let you know something. They did an u/s at my first appt I had when I was pg w/ . I was not expecting one so didn't go with me. He got to see the pretty much what I saw (other thtan the heart beating) from the u/s picture. Since everything was fine I didn't have another one until 20 weeks, which was at. He has never felt left out about not being at the first u/s, I guess bc he was at the last 3 where we saw so much more. He also hasn't been present at any of the 3 u/s I've had so far w/ this pg. The first was at the hospital and they wouldn't allow him in bc it was diagnostic... Basicly they didn't want him seeing anything that might not be good, they didn't even turn the screen to me until she found the pg, but she did show him the film (they don't print pictures). The 2nd and 3rd he was already back in Korea. He doesn't seem to mind so much that he is missing these early u/s... I think when it will hit him that he's missing one and he really wants to be at one is when I go for my 20 week. We will just have to hope that I have one at the end of this pg and he is able to go to it (hard to know bc he'll be in school). Anyway, my point is that didn't seem to mind missing the first u/s as long as he got to see the 20 week. I think that's the one they really go for bc they might be able to find out the sex... I don't know. just made sure he went to every appt w/ me asking the dr when we'd get to do the u/s and if we could find out the sex. You know, talking about this, I might ask my dr if we can do an u/s after comes home and I'll just pay out of pocket. I guess it couldn't hurt to ask, right? Ok... so I've gone off on and me, sorry. Anyway, I'm sure your 20 week u/s will be scheduled in advance (or if you have an appt at the time the dr will tell you next appt) and you can bring your dh then. Oh, another thing!! If it's easy for your dh to get off of work, you may want to take him to some of your regular appts once you get further along. loved hearing the h/b and seeing how much my tummy (and ) had grown since the last appt. I think it helps them to feel a part of the pg when normally they think they aren't. I mean, we whine about getting uncomfortable and having to pee all of the time and wear these sometimes hideous clothes, etc. From what I understand, many men think it's amazing that we can actually carry another human being inside our body and EVERYTHING we do affects that little person. Granted, I don't think they'd ever want to go through childbirth... but it would be nice. LOL Amy 15 weeks Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

It's interesting to me that you said this. When I had an u/s done

when I had the ep, the tech didn't talk to me didn't say

anything...even after it was done she wouldn't tell me anything, just

sent me back up to the dr's office. Now at the time I thought it was

because it was bad news and maybe they aren't suppossed to say

anything...but that waiting was awful! Then with this pg, the same

thing happened...only the tech was just going to send us home since

she couldn't get a hold of the dr to find out if she wanted see us.

I almost lost it and pleaded with her to tell me something and she

did say that everything looked fine, but was not specific at all.

I've been wondering if the reason the techs were so untalkative was

because both u/s were because I complained of pain (I had to in order

to get an u/s this time, cause they otherwise seemed unconcerned). I

guess now that I think about it if it had been bad news again this

time she probably wouldn't have just sent us home. Weird...anyway I

am rambling...I've just been trying to figure out why they were so

not helpful. Maybe they just are not very nice people here!

Amy,

Actually I've been told that the u/s techs aren't allowed to say

anything. If they see the baby they can show you and they can point

out the h/b and such, but that's about it. For anything else they

have to allow the radiologist to read it... for example, when you

have your 20 week u/s they are doing more than just giving you a

picture and easing your mind. They are looking for things, but they

can't tell you about it. When I had my first ep, the u/s tech would

not say anything at all to me. All I remember is crying everytime

she moved the thing to my right side and at that point they were (as

far as I knew) trying to determine if I was having a m/c. She didn't

show us anything and she didn't say anything about the u/s, although

she was very kind about the pain I was in. She even warned me when

she had to go back to the side that hurt. After kept asking

her about what she saw on the u/s, she finally RELUCTANTLY told him

that at the stage of my pg they should have at least seen the sac or

something but she didn't find any evidence of a pg in the uterus.

But she said nothing was definite or diagnosed until the radiologist

had a chance to look at it and determine what he found. With the

first u/s I had this time, she also told me that she couldn't reveal

too much w/o allowing the radiologist to look first... but she did

show me where the baby was (going to be) and said that she can't tell

me everything is ok but it would be safe to assume so since they were

allowing me to go home, they wouldn't if there was a problem. So,

it's not that the techs there are unfriendly, they just are limited

to what they are allowed to tell you. :o)

Amy R.,

The u/s technician did the same thing to me with the ep. Just sent me back to the dr's office. But with my pg with Tessa she did tell me everything was fine. The first u/s there was no heartbeat, but it was early. She told me I would have to come back in a couple weeks to check for a heartbeat. I think they do that to make sure it's actually a embryo growing and not just a sac. I was never so happy to see a heartbeat in all my life.

Jo-Ann
