Guest guest Posted November 13, 2008 Report Share Posted November 13, 2008 Dear FORUM, I would like to inform the group that NACO-Ethics Committee (NEC) for Research has been constituted under NACP-III with responsibility to ensure that the ethical implications of any research undertaken are afforded serious consideration prior to the commencement of a project and that such research is consistent with legislative and statutory requirements. The main function of the NEC is to consider and provide ethical clearance for those research proposals and projects that involve participation and experimentation on human participants, where their mental, physical, social and emotional health and well-being may be affected by the proposed research. The NACO Ethics Committee consists of the experts of bio-medical, clinical, epidemiological, behavioral and social disciplines. In addition, a legal expert and a lay person from the community have also included. Details can be obtained from the Research and Development Division, NACO.
