I use splenda the last few years. I have also used fructose and aspartame.

Aselupfame potassium is also listed in drinks sweetened with splenda too. Its

another type of no cal sweetner. I have baked with fructose and splenda

depending on the bulk needed.

Which do you use? Splenda, Equal, or Sweet and Low?

Aspartame is Equal (and other trademark names). I don't know if aselupfame

potassium (sp?) is available as a standalone or just in processed items.

Fructose is not an artificial sweetener but the concentrated natural sugar

of fruits, i.e., as if you squeezed an orange (or apple, pineapple, etc.)

and took just the sugar it contains and not the associated fiber. While

" natural, " it reacts the same as table sugar only faster (there are

calories and food value) . . . which is why orange juice is the

traditionally favored antidote for hypos . . . fast acting. (Apple juice

contains about twice the sugar of OJ but something about OJ makes it

metabolize faster.)

When I was approaching my 40th birthday, my husband threatened to trade me in for two twenty year olds. Since we were living without electricity at the time, I gently reminded him that he "wasn't wired for 220" and that ended that! Thanks for the memory! Healthy blessings to all, Hugs - Marilyn
