Hey D! Chill out! You are doing the best you can, and it looks like, even though you were eating and drinking to numb your feelings, you were aware you were doing it, and that is HUGE. You can't blame yourself for using familiar coping techniques! Let's say that you are a doctor, and know only some really old, archaic techniques to stop bleeding. Let's say that you are learning this new way, but it takes some skill to master. One day, someone walks into your office and they are bleeding heavily. It's a real emergency! Are you going to try the new technique you barely know, or are you going to go with the one you KNOW will work? I honestly don't know what I would do if some perfectly healthy, young person that I knew died. Probably the same thing you did. So, relax. I know what you mean about IE becoming a diet. It took me forever to realize something: I don't have a problem with food, I have a problem with my emotions. Once I've realized this all my other struggles with weight, food, binge eating and the cycle that includes took a back burner. Now I realize when I feel moved, upset, angry, hurt, stressed that I am not about food, I'm about emotions. You're options were great with hair color, waxing and yoga! What beautiful and fun ways to pamper yourself! Food is not the enemy, that is the most important message, its just the blanket we've been carrying since childhood so we don't feel alone in a tempest of emotions. -
