Guest guest
I prefer relish on my burgers. Although I do enjoy a good dill pickle on the side now and then. Speaking of what goes on a hamburger . . . . did you know that in New Zealand they usually put these on their hamburgers - pickled beets, fried egg, and/or a pineapple slice! Katcha > > Yep. I agree with you both. Ya need the pickle. I usually include a > Claussen Pickle spear on the plate. Katcha, babe, that's a classic Aussie-style burger with " the lot " . Meat patty, onion, lettuce, tomato, cheese, beetroot, egg, bacon, pineapple. And (of course) a big squirt of the most quintessential Australian ingredient - tomato sauce. (That's " ketchup " to you.) *more bewildered shaking of head* S

Guest guest
Katcha and Sigi, I have heard of an egg on a burger before. Pineapple sounds yummy! Ooh, maybe Canadian bacon and pineapple? OOooh! Even better! Make a " ham & pineapple pizza burger " . You know, a little tomato sauce, cheeze, pineapple some onions? That would be awesome for the Super Bowl or World Cup . > > *bewildered expression* > > Well what on earth do you lot put on your burgers? > > Katcha, babe, that's a classic Aussie-style burger with " the lot " . > Meat patty, onion, lettuce, tomato, cheese, beetroot, egg, bacon, > pineapple. Guest guest
Sigi et al, The reason I mentioned the 'different' toppings was to educate the Yanks to the differences thru the world. I would guess that since Mc's is now in about any country that has cars and computers, hamburgers " yank' style is pretty well understood and received. [Yank style is generally with tomato, lettuce , cheese and onion plus mustard, mayo and katchup - or if all 3 mixed together 'secret sauce] I know I was surprised to find that in New Zealand (circa mid 1990's) that 'proper' toppings on a takeaway hamburger were beetroot, fried egg and pineapple - PERIOD. In New Zealand tomato sauce was indeed tomato sauce as we yanks have that - tomato juice cooked down a bit thinker with NOTHING else or the tiny-est bit of onion added. I imagine that things have changed by now thanks to the Yank fast food invasion world wide. Having a fried egg, pickled beets and pineapple is not something that you would find on any hamburger in the US! Not that it doesn't sound delicious if one thinks about it. Fried egg = cheese, pickled beet = pickles, pineapple = relish. And if you asked for those to be added, you had better have them items in your pocket to hand to the cook - they wouldn't have it in their kitchens ;-) Katcha > > Katcha and Sigi, > I have heard of an egg on a burger before. Guest guest
I love that idea... I'm a sucker for the ham and pineapple combo. Too bad most of the people I usually order pizza with don't like it - or should I say have never actually tried it because they think it would taste bad - which means we never order it... But as a burger - now that could be fun. > > Katcha and Sigi, > I have heard of an egg on a burger before. Pineapple sounds yummy! > Ooh, maybe Canadian bacon and pineapple? > OOooh! Even better!
