Guest guest
Yeah, just got some Labs Brewers Yeast Nutritional Yeast. Looking at the list of amino acids, the Glutamic Acid is the largest percentage of them all. Being SPMS and aware, should we be concerned about the exposure to glutamines here? Would be a shame since this stuff looks really good otherwise. Guest guest
You must have missed my post about glutamic acid in Nutritinal yeast. It is a naturally occuring exitotoxin. The vitamins are added. > > " Red Star derives its primary grown nutritional yeast from pure strains of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae grown on mixtures of beet and cane molasses. Guest guest
Is Yeast Gluten-Free? Posted on May 18, 2011 by admin Is Yeast Gluten-Free? Yeast is made up of a single-celled organism which multiplies quickly when fed sugar in a moist environment. One pound of yeast contains 3,200 billion yeast cells! Yeast also thrives on starch, which it converts to glucose, a simple sugar. This process ferments the sugar, which converts to alcohol and carbon dioxide. All brand name packaged yeasts sold in the United States are gluten free. Yeast found in a food product is generally considered gluten free. Brewer's yeast, when it is a by-product of beer is not considered gluten-free. Brewer's yeast nutritional supplements can be made from either brewer's yeast or sugar. If they are made from sugar, they are gluten free. Some people with gluten sensitivity have yeast overgrowth problems which is referred to as Candida. ______________________________________________________________________ The vitamins may be synthetic but even if they aren't they are added to the product. > > Yeah, just got some Labs Brewers Yeast Nutritional Yeast. Guest guest
Probably read it and didn't catch that glutamic acid was the glutamine issue. May check the counts on different nutritional yeast prodcuts to see if any are lower. > > You must have missed my post about glutamic acid in Nutritinal yeast. It is a naturally occuring exitotoxin. Guest guest
I think they are all the same because of the way they are made. The vitamins are added (fortified) and it seems more prudent to concentrate on B vitamines without any yeast. Let us know what you find. > > > > You must have missed my post about glutamic acid in Nutritinal yeast. It is a naturally occuring exitotoxin. Guest guest
It doesn't seem to have hurt Dr. Wahls. I tend to avoid the stress of hypervigilance. Life is too short. Guest guest
I found nutritional yeast by Labs http://www.luckyvitamin.com/p-7725-lewis-labs-brewers-yeast-nutritional-yeast-32\ -oz?redirect=1 Here they claim that it is not fortified or blended, nothing added. At this site they don't list the amino acids, but I think I saw at another site selling it a list with the same high amount of glutamic acid. Going to this site (see below) I read the article about nutritional yeast, friend or foe? Scared the hell out of me regarding excitotoxin damage to my brain cells.... until I got to the very end of the article only to discover the author owns a company trying to sell something. Of course, how stupid can I get to fall for this again! Okay, lets bring out the scientists and researchers without bias to tell us if this amino acid will kill our brain cells. http://www.daystarbotanicals.com/nutritionalyeast.html > > I think they are all the same because of the way they are made.
