It seems to be a lot easier to do that than learn how to eat the real thing in small amount OR to eat the real thing and not worry about it one way or the other. > Understanding that fat - especially saturated fat - is healthy and necessary was like the IE My husband for YEARS has never believed that saturated fat is bad. He still doesn't believe red meat or bacon is bad for you. However, he's not a low carb guy either. He believes in balance. He doesn't believe that sugar in small amounts is bad for you either. Or that eating a couple homemade treats, made with the best ingredients available that his wife baked everyday is a guarnatee for cancer. Or he's kidding himself. I dunno. Now recently I read a report that evidence that nitrites and acrylimydes (the stuff from browing or eating potato chips)is flawed because the amounts they fed the rats translated into TONS for humans. For potato chips it was something like eating 62 pounds of potato chips a day? I'm going by foggy memory. My problem as you can guess is things like eating oatmeal, whole wheat pasta, chocolate, etc.

Guest guest
Yeah, he's trying. Bless him. However, one of us is really, really stubborn. > > > Wow. Guest guest
Yeah, but it can be hard because I think he pressures me about eating in other ways. Nothing crazy, but if I want to make an omelette with some egg whites and egg yolks he accuses me of being " diety " . Or if I put back the traditional pasta for whole wheat he accuses me of being " diety " . If that makes sense. > > > Wow. Your husband is way ahead of most people. Guest guest
I do try to eat lower in fat but it's definitely not exclusive. For example, I made a sauce for last night's dinner and in lieu of using 2% milk I used half and half because I had to use it up. I didn't feel guilty in the slightest. I also think it's ridiculous to try to saute with one teaspoon of oil. Seriously, 1 little teaspoon? That does NOTHING for my pan and if I only have to use that then I may as well use cooking spray. I usually use 1-2 Tbsp. of oil to saute but don't even worry about it because 5 people are eating the food. Seriously. Who cares? I've been on this IE journey since last March. I think I'm only NOW coming into my own with it. I haven't seen my nutritionist since October and while I loved her, I honestly think it harmed me because every time I had an appointment coming I'd have to think of accomplishments I'd had over the past month. Over the holidays I probably gained about 5 pounds or so...I only know because my clothes were fitting too tightly. I've cut back on sweets and excess "junk" and now am back to feeling more comfortable in my clothing. Wow...that was a tangent!! iv_adb wrote: Low fat is another one. there is NO evidence that low fat is good for us - and plenty of evidence it is bad, yet the myth persists. people buy into it and get less and less healthy every single day. So I guess it's understandable that I go on about it a bit. I actaully dont' talk about it in 'real life' but I figure people here are more likely to understand. .
