Guest guest
Dear All, Re: /message/9626 Such instances necessitate immediate action in a concerted manner. An FIR should be lodged in the concerned police station by an NGO/CBO/network ofPLHIV, along with build up of public opinion with suitable sensitization, advocacy and social mobilization. As we all know that any claim for cure for AIDS is a punishable offence as per the law of the land. I/we had got a person claiming cure of AIDS put behind the bars in Gujarat in 2001 itself using section 420 of the Indian Penal Code(enticing and duping a person). Now that Drug and Magic Remedies (DMR) Act and Rules have been amended in 2002 and have specifically included AIDS as the disease/condition for which any advertisement claiming cure cannot be done through any means, taking appropriate remedial action appears to be easier. Kindly ensure the same to nip the problem in the bud before it assumes gigantic proportions. Best wishes, Dr.Rajesh Gopal.
