Guest guest
>> Also, because I have a solitary kidney, and I've already got a UTI, they prescribed suppressive therapy for me. I will have to take a second antibiotic when I finish the course I am on now. The second course is once per day for the duration of the pregnancy. Is this really necessary? After all we hear about the overuse of antibiotics these days and they want to use them preventatively? I'm not crazy about the amount of pill-popping I have to do these days. Hi Becki, Do you have a hx of uti's or kidney infections? I had a bilat kidney infect once that ended me in the hospital. Since then, my docs have used the same protocol for treating my UTIs. I was concerned about the antibiotics until my renal guy said that I'd almost done permanent damage to my kidneys ... I was like, pass the drugs, man. As far as f/u, my doc is seeing me every 4 wks for the 1st trimester, 3 wks 2nd trimester, 2 wks for 7th and 8th month and every week for the last month. Now in my case, I'm WICKED high risk for other reasons, but my MD said if I had an MA alone, the high risk clinic woudn't even be following me. I could insist on a consult, but the MA alone would have the same f/u plan as a normal pg. >>> We did, however, get to hear the baby's heartbeat! That was sweeter than I could ever describe. Oh Becki!! What a wonderful treat! I'm holding my breath that *maybe* we'll hear it next week, but I'll only be 7w 3d by then. If not, I have to wait another months ... anthough my impulsive kid brother says that that is too long to wait and is threatening to order the Babybeat :-) <<hug>> 6w 4d w/#
