AIDS is a great challenge to the Youth as they are at risk of getting infected or at risk of early death if not diagnosed or treated in time. Prevention, Early diagnosis and Correct Treatment are crucial to maintain the productive ability of the youth and ensure progress of the nation. Biomedical, Clinical and Public Health Research are crucial to this process. Our Program befits the above mentioned philosophy. About the Program The University of South Florida and Vadodara Medical College, Gujarat, India's AIDS International Training and Research Program is funded by the National Institutes of Health and Fogarty International Center. The program brings together academic stakeholders in Gujarat to forge ahead research in the areas of Adolescent HIV/AIDS. Keeping with this Focus the program is conducting its Annual Update and Training Workshop on Clinical Research and Adolescent HIV/AIDS. The program has partnered with INDU Health Research Foundation, USF-India Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Training and the Vedanta Institute of Medical Sciences, India. Course Content. This 7-day intensive training program will offer both didactic and hands-on training. The training will cover but not restrict to Literature searching/critical literature review, scientific writing, scholarly publication, Evidence based medicine, clinical trials, Biostatistics, Interpretation of study findings, Ethical considerations in clinical research, Grantmanship and, Research leadership. Special topics and project development in diagnosis and management of adolescent HIV disease will be addressed in the Update. The overall mission is to escalate the involvement of Researchers in Gujarat in the Field of Adolescent HIV/AIDS. It is well known that Adolescent are the most productive resource of a developing nation. It is important that they be protected, treated and sustained to ensure progress of the nation. Research and development are crucial to this process. Criteria to Apply. The course is open to all health Care professionals including MDs, PhDs, Public Health Experts, Nutritionists and Nursing Professionals who are interested in clinical research. Training Costs Major Operating costs of the Training including United States administrative Costs, Faculty Expenditures and Course fees are being covered by the Funding from National Institutes of Health. A USF-AITRP Certificate will be awarded at the end of the Course. It is mandatory to attend the Full course so please arrive a day earlier i.e. February 11, 2009 and arrange your departure after 5 PM on February 18, 2009. Food and Local Arrangement Costs The Costs for local arrangements at the venue, Food etc will have to be borne by the participants. Rs. 3000 (Approx. $75 USD) has been decided as cost each participant will have to pay at the site before the beginning of the course. The cost for One-day HIV update is Rs.500.
