Gillian, this is one I'm going to look for. It makes me think of the

novella "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, in which

the antagonist male (husband) is slowly but surely trying to convince

the protagonist female (wife) that her instincts, needs and perceptions

are leading her toward insanity. She is deemed "out of her senses"

because she does not have the prominent male sensibility of that time

period (early 20th century or late 19th). Very powerful story written

well before our time. Perhaps pertinent to livinv intuitively in any

age. Particularly as females. (Hello to our male members. Don't know

any literature that reflect this particular type of discreditation and

disrespect toward men but I'm sure there is. Perhaps you know of

examples to share.)

I've ever read is called "The Surrendered Wife" by Doyle. I think

it's helpful for any woman, married or not. It teaches you how to let

go of trying to control the people in your life and focusing on your

needs, which we usually have been raised to deny.

Thanks Alison. Sounds like an interesting story. Sometimes I think reading a story versus a "self-help" book can be quite powerful. But I bet you'll like the Surrendered Wife, it's a great book and applicable to so many areas of our lives.
