Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to this wonderful group. My name is a B (a C is the mean one, so beware!). I have been happily married for 32 years and am the mother of 2 married sons and the grandma of 3 perfect little people. I was fortunate in that even though I was symptomatic for several years, I wasn't diagnosed with Lupus and Fibromyalgia until after our boys were grown. I ended up being unable to work as a nurse because of my illnesses. Even though this was hard, it was good in that the boys were raised. I know how you feel about not being able to hold a child on your lap because this is how it is with my grandchildren...much harder though if you're the Mom. I have had all of your symptoms- I have lupus headaches (migraine like)- I have had numbness and visual difficulties - I've not had problems with blood clotting, but most certainly have had difficulty with pain in all my joints and muscles. I have seen a ton of doctors. I hated it, but felt confident when my diagnoses was made. You will find a lot of support from this group and at least one and probably several members who have experienced what you are going through at any given time. Don't hesitate to talk about anything. has provided us with a lot of great information and I suggest you read this. I also suggest you educate yourself by reading about Lupus, etc. online and at the library. Just make sure what what you read is current information. Hugs - a B. > Hello everyone > My name is and I am 22 about to be 23 next month. I am a stay- > at-home mother of 2 little girls Avery,3 and Sloan 20 months. Guest guest
No I am not on a pumpNo I am not on a pump and yes I am still diabetic. My pancreas transplant failed in less then a year after the surgery in April of '99. The kidney I also received that day also failed but that lasted until 2003. I am now back on insulin. new member > > > > > > > > > Hello I am a new member of this list. I have been totally blind since 1996 > and have been a Type 1 diabetic since the age of 4 and I am now 37. Guest guest
Hi Brad, Welcome to the list. I've had type 1 diabetes since I was 9 and am now 27. I use an insulin pump and so far have no complications -- and am hoping to keep it that way! Jen
Guest guest
Thank you. I have been asked why I don't use the pump but am not sure how accessible any of them really are. I am alone a lot and with no one around to help not sure if I really want to take the chance of screwing something up. I have a tendency t odrop like a rock and can have difficulty bringing it back up. RE: new member > Hi Brad, > > Welcome to the list. Guest guest
It is kind of weird that with everything I have had to go through over the years I am ok with it and it really doesn't phase me. I have finally got something good going in my life and am happier then I have been in almost 15 years. new member > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello I am a new member of this list. Guest guest
Amen! Isn't it funny how all of a sudden, when something tradgic or life changing occurs in our lives, it is when we get to really know who we really are? we all have a reason why we are here, though we will never know, and why waste precious time asking, (I think) just enjoy the little pleasures that are left? God is good all the time...and all the time God is good blessings Sugar " I would rather walk in the dark with Jesus than to walk in the light on my own. Guest guest
While your losses are due to diabetes, do you think running high bs levels or high spikes in your bs had any thing to do with diabetic complications? just curious, Harry new member > > > > > > Hello I am a new member of this list. Guest guest
Hi Brad, I am also a 2 kidney pancreas transplant patient. I received my first pancreas transplant 11 years ago when I was 26 and needed a second kidney transplant in 2003. My fiancé donated his kidney to me and for the moment everything is going well. Where did you receive your transplants? Guest guest
I had them done at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The first one was a Kidney/Pancreas in April 1999 and the 2nd Kidney Transplant was in July 2007. Back on insulin but the 2nd Kidney is doing good. new member Hello I am a new member of this list. Guest guest
Heya, I was 20 when my too precious for words mother donated a kidney to me. It’ll be 3 years come this June, and although many things have happened as a result, (becoming an insulin-dependant diabetic being one of them) I wouldn’t give up my last years on this plane for anything in the world.
