Guest guest
LUCKNOW: A 45-year-old farmer, his wife and son were allegedly killed by their relatives after it was discovered that they had full-blown AIDS. Jilajeet, the farmer, took ill about two years back and after regular treatment by the local doctors failed to help, he went to Baba Raghav Das Medical College (BRDMC) in Gorakhpur where he was admitted for a complete medical check-up following complaints of sustained fever and acute weight loss. Here he was tested HIV positive in May 2007. Jilajeet was discharged from the hospital after being prescribed medication spreading over the next six months. Despite taking the medicines regularly, his condition continued to deteriorate to the extent that he was rendered bed ridden in December 2007. Unable to meet the expenses incurred while he was admitted to the hospital, he requested the doctors to discharge him but he regularly visited the BRDMC as an out-patient, said sub inspector (SI) RP Kannaujiya - incharge of Chapiya police station talking to TOI on phone. The Yadavs suffered another jolt when Jilajeet's wife Madna too tested HIV positive in January. The worst came for the family when their son Kallu too tested positive about a fortnight ago and took ill. Already under debt and with no source of income at all, Jilajeet finally visited the hospital in Gorakhpur on July 24 last and returned hopeless, deciding not to continue with the medical treatment any. He returned home disillusioned with absolutely no money in hand. According to Madna's father Ram Sunder Yadav, Jilajeet, Madna and Kallu were rendered as outcaste by his family who feared that they would also catch the disease if they interacted with them. Eventually on Sunday morning, the trio was murdered by Jilajeet's brothers and their bodies cremated without informing the near and dear ones including Madna's parents. When Madna's family members came to know about the incident, they lodged a complaint with the Chapiya police station of Gonda accusing Jilajeet's brothers Rajaram and Munna of murdering the three, said SO Chapiya RP Kannaujiya. Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Gonda Manik Chandra Saroj, however, claimed that during initial investigations the accused have claimed that Jilajeet and his family had committed suicide and that they simply went ahead with the cremation without informing the parents of Madna. " They however failed to explain why they did not inform the police as deaths in suicides merit a full-fledged police investigations, " ASP Saroj said adding that since the bodies of the deceased have been cremated there was nothing which could help to establish the exact cause of death of the three victims. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Lucknow/Three_persons_with_AIDS_killed_by_kin\ /articleshow/3299729.cms
