Guest guest
Hi , I use College Pharmacy in CO as my compounding pharmacy. www.collegepharmacy.com My OB/GYN had never prescribed compounded formulas before so he pretty much guessed at what would work. It did, but needs some fine tuning so I just sent in (via college pharmacy) a saliva test to help determine what my specific formula should be. The real benefit of compounding is having formulas tailor made for you. Like you, I never realized I was in menopause until it was done. The symptoms sort of blended in with the thyroid ones, but whatever, I sure don't miss having periods.
Guest guest
Went to see my OB/GYN today. Not only was I in menopause, I'm done with it according to her! That means that at the height of dealing with all the Graves stuff, I was also pari-menopausal. No wonder everything was so so hard! Now, other than the purely visceral reaction of loss that I'm sure many women feel when they go through this change, it has not been that rough compared to all the Graves stuff! All I have to deal with nowadays is hot flashes and some irritation - child's play! I'm choosing to take soy and yam based hormones, and am having a place in Montana or Wisconsin or thereabouts compound estrogen and progesterone for me. I am mainly doing it to be sure that my meds will be vegetarian, but also then I only have to take one pill a day. Has anyone had experience with compounding pharmacies? I hope it's ok to do. Strangely, once I found out I was in menopause, I suddenly got the energy to exercise, to take care of how I look, it's been a small rebirth, really. Thanks for letting me write about this. I'm not ready to discuss it with most of my family and friends.
Guest guest
Elaine: Yeah, the doctor asked if I wanted to take progesterone only part of the time so that I could mimic still having periods! Uh, that's such a hard choice! What does the saliva test tell the pharmacy, and should I have it done before even my first prescription is filled? My doctor is familiar with compounding and has prescribed a low dosage to start with. Thanks for the info.
