Guest guest
Good Morning, My name is Dan Weatherington and I was diagnosed with MS in 1986, probably before most of you got out of high school. I was also a member of the first online groups to discuss MS and, if it wasn't so sad, it would almost be funny, but for those almost thirty years, the lists haven't really changed. People make the joke that they used to love soap operas on television because they could miss several months of the daily shows, begin watching again and immediately catch up because nothing really changed. The MS lists are the same. Twenty-six years ago the discussion was about bee sting treatments, colloidal silver, removing mercury dental fillings and a handful of other 'revelations'. For the past twenty-six years, friends have called me about cures they have either heard about on the news or read about on the Internet. My response is always the same, a sincere thank you. And it is sincere because I appreciate their concern, but in almost every case I have heard the " cure " before. Most times, every few years. I learned long ago that the cards have been dealt and I didn't have the winning hand. But MS isn't terminal and it is up to me to make every day, every week, every month, the best it can be. When a cure comes, it will be all over the news, I will know. But until then, I am alive, I can think, I can plan, I can love. Have a great day!
