Guest guest
hi michelle, i had a laproscopy/hysteroscopy on oct 8, 2002 to repair a paritially septated uterus. mine did not completley run to my cervix. i was dx in 1999 around the same time i got pregnant with my first child. obvioulsy since i was already pregnant there was nothing we could do but wait and see how the septum affected my pregnancy. by the grace of god my pregnancy had a wonderful outcome, my son is a healthy 2yr old. i did have some difficulty during the pregnancy and some preterm labor, probably due to the septum. they were able to hold me off until 34wks but was son was determined to make an eary arrival, i had to have a c-section because he was breech, also due to the septum. 19months later i got pregnant again, same situation, not a problem free pregnancy. i started contracting at 24wks, thy were able to hold me off until almost 34wks and then the unthinkable happened, i started bleeding really bad. i was rushed to the hosptial, did an emergency c-section but it was too late for my precious baby girl karson, she was born still.we can't say for sure that the septum had anything to due with this because i had a placental abruption which means that the placenta tore away from the wall of the uterus and her life line to me was gone, the doctors said she probably died within 6-12minutes from the time i saw the bleeding. i started bleeding at 9am and she was born at 10:06am, we moved quick but there was nothing they could do, she was already in the arms of jesus. it has been so hard. after this i went to see an RE because i want more children and i didn't want to take achnce of something happening like this again, especially if the septum was the cause. me RE didn't hesitate insisting that we remove the septum, so i agreed to thave the surgery. it went very well, very simple procedure, outpatient basis. he inserted a balloon and placed me on estrogen therapy to promote healing of my uterus. he was very pleased, he felt he got all of the septum and that i should have no problem getting pregnant again. he said we can ttc in 4-8wks after the surgery. i go for my follow-up appt on nov. 11.i do not regret my decision to have the surgery. this is probably more than you wanted to hear but i feel that my story may give you a message. maybe the reason you have ahad several failed IUI is because god sees the bigger picture and didn't want you to have to experience a loss so he has led you to have the septum removed before you conceive. i know there are several women on this site who have conceived successfully after this surgery. good luck and god bless, sorry this is so long.....shauna
