Guest guest
Well, I was reading Gillian's post and some of your responses regarding the cookie jar and sneaking food. After a while I remembered how when I was a kid how my step mother would grill me when she thought I had eaten something she may or may not have approved of. We were allowed to eat whenever we wanted, but for some reason she would come and confront me when she thought I had snuck food. When I lied about it because I felt on the defensive, she would tell me not to lie. But it was like, if its no big deal then why are you interrogating me? I also remembered one time when my grandparents and cousin were visiting all the way from Germany, (my only allies against the step mother at that time)and my grandparents had bought my cousin a couple bags of chips and she kept them under the bed. I do agree that my grandparents spoiled my cousin, but I also have to admit that they did a pretty good job with me too. Well, anyway, my step mother HATED this! She confiscated the chips and said that my cousin couldn't have them unless she shared them with everyone! That ticked off both of my grandparents and my cousin. This woman had and still has major control issues. I am realizing now that that is also a place where I learned that behavior. Thanking for jogging my memory! Guest guest
Ahh!! I can so relate, lol! I remember if my parents brought home any of the following items they were hidden: granola bars, candy bars, snack cakes, " good " cereal (anything sugary or expensive). Of course, I would always look in all the good hiding spots, find food and devour it all. I remember one time I ate a 5th avenue bar from the hidden spot, and my parents called us all down to find out which one of us ate the missing candy bar. I confessed, and my parents told me I'd already had mine, so I had to watch while everyone else ate theirs. I remember another time I found the fudge dipped granola bars and ate the whole box as soon as I found it. Of course, that just reinforced my parents' idea that we couldn't be trusted with certain foods and thus they must be hidden and portioned out...sigh. > > Well, I was reading Gillian's post and some of your responses > regarding the cookie jar and sneaking food.
