Hi Everyone,

I'm catching up after a week of not having my computer! It's amazing how much we rely on technology!

I saved this a couple weeks back. You may have heard of Real Age, which tells you what your age is based on health and wellness factors. They also have one for dogs and cats. I get weekly emails with tips that are usually pretty interesting. This one I wanted to share with all of you:

"Sweet treats may tickle your taste buds, but they won't tempt your cat's tummy. A cat's sense of taste differs from other mammals in one important way -- cats have a genetic mutation that makes the sweet detectors on their tongues nonfunctional. When cats in a study were presented with sugar-laced water and plain water, they showed no preference for either. This mutation likely helped cats evolve toward all-meat diets."

I was thinking, what a bummer that cats can't taste sweet! Can you imagine not being able to get the sweet taste of chocolate or other sweet treats? I decided I would savor sweet things even more after reading this. We've been given a gift! Not that cats care, I'm sure, but sweet things are certainly a pleasure in my life!
