JOB TITLE: Project Coordinator

LOCATION: Nagpur, Maharashtra, India

BACKGROUND: Sarathi Trust is a non-profit and non-governmental, community based

organization, established in 2006. The organization provides awareness and

prevention knowledge on HIV/AIDS to MSM / Gay and Transgender community.

To reduce the prevalence of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and

HIV among MSM / Gay and Transgender community, and control the spread of HIV,

Sarathi Trust, is running a targeted intervention project in high prevalence

district, at Nagpur, Maharashtra.

The above mentioned targeted intervention project is supported by Avert Society,

which supports HIV/AIDS prevention work in Maharashtra state.  With effect from

March 2009, the said intervention project will move into its second phase.

Key Responsibilities:

The organization seek to hire a Project Coordinator, who will be entrusted with

the responsibility to provide leadership to a team of programmatic, technical,

financial and administrative professionals in the planning, coordination, and

effective implementation of the said targeted intervention project (Phase Two,

2008-2010).

 The Project coordinator will be responsible for oversight, administration,

supervision, and management of the project. He / she will respond to and

interact with the appropriate officials and will serve as the primary Project

liaison to Avert Society and coordinates and collaborates with other

Avert-funded organizations

Oversee strategic development of program activities, annual work plans and

budgets.

Ensure efficient systems are established to measure accomplishments, track work

in progress and use of project resources, and measure impact of services.

Prepares or oversees project-mandated deliverables including annual continuation

plans, programmatic, financial and technical reports, as well as other reporting

information required by Avert Society / Sarathi Trust

Ensure appropriate management procedures, so that all resources are in place,

adhered to and in compliance with Avert's requests.

Work closely with Sarathi Management Team (3 Directors), to design and

operationalize an annual project planning cycle, which involves formulating

comprehensive and integrated annual project work plans and budgets.

Assume a key representational role for the organization to all external

stakeholders - government, SACS, Avert Society, NGO & community partners and

undertake high-level policy dialogue with multitude of stakeholders.  Must have

the commitment towards building & empowering communities, gender focused

development and sensitivity to work with marginalized groups (MSM and other

vulnerable groups)

Education Qualification:

Master in Social Work/ MA in Psychological or Equivalent.

 

(Preference will be given to MSM / MSM PLHA.)

Experience:

Strong background in public health / HIV/AIDS, with at least 03 to 05  years of

experience in strategic design, management and implementation of integrated

public health / development projects in India / globally.

Very strong written & verbal communication skill in English and knowledge of

Hindi is essential.

It is desirable that the incumbent should have knowledge of Marathi.
