It is known for innovative and multi-sectoral initiatives in the HIV/AIDS field. SAATHII is registered as a tax-exempt charitable trust with offices in Chennai (Head Office), Kolkata, Hyderabad, Karur, Bhubaneswarand Jaipur. Job Description: SAATHII is looking for a suitable individual for its Campaign Development Coordinator position under a long-term project titled “Building the Capacity of People Living with HIV and Sexual Minorities in Orissa and West Bengalto Advance their Health and Rights”. The project seeks to build and facilitate coalitions of these communities to conduct joint advocacy, play a watchdog role and engage with government agencies in effective implementation of crucial health programmes. The project is a collaborative venture of SAATHII and Interact Worldwide, London. The Campaign Development Coordinator position requires a broad knowledge of current health and human rights sectors nationally and internationally, with demonstrated experience and skills in communications, advocacy, media interaction, documentation and networking with government, NGO, bilateral, multilateral and private sector stakeholders. Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) and HIV/AIDS issues and an understanding of the SRH and HIV/AIDS scenarios in West Bengaland Orissa will also be essential requirements. The principal role of the Campaign Development Coordinator will be to develop multi-faceted advocacy campaigns based on advocacy strategies devised by the coalitions of PLHIV and sexual minorities. The campaigns will address government, media, the general public and other key stakeholders in order to reduce stigma and discrimination, increase understanding of the health and development needs and rights of sexual minorities and PLHIV, and improve the implementation of government SRH and HIV/AIDS programmes. The Campaign Development Coordinator will report to the Project Manager. Skills and Qualifications Required: 1. At least five years of experience in the SRH, HIV/AIDS and related human rights sectors in India at the level of organizational and programme management (including community mobilization; strategic planning, implementation; networking with NGOs, government agencies, media houses and corporate bodies; reporting;monitoring and evaluation). 2. Demonstrated knowledge base, messaging and documentation skills in relation to gender, sexuality, human rights, SRH and HIV/AIDS communication. 3. Journalistic skills with ability to persistently pursue information sources,collate, edit, proof and prepare final matter for print and electronic advocacy material. 4. At least a graduation degree or equivalent diploma from a reputed university or institute, preferably in social sciences, journalism or mass communication. 5. Good command over English, Hindi and Oriya languages (written and spoken). Ability to communicate in Bengali will be given preference. 6. Sound computer skills (including use of Internet and Microsoft Office software). 7. Ability to work independently and as a team player in a complex, multicultural environment, with demonstrated leadership, communication, networking and presentation capabilities. People living with HIV, women candidates and candidates from gender or sexuality minority sections are encouraged to apply. Monthly pay amount: Rs.23,000/- per month. An initial six-month contract will be offered, renewable for at least another six months.
