Guest guest
Dear group, Re: /message/9540 I was surprised to see that, as per APSACS health expert few children turn negative due to Antiretroviral therapy or development of resistance to HIV. It is true that mother's antibodies will be there in the newborn child upto 18 months, which will show a false HIV positive report. After 18 months the antibodies in child will be destroyed as a routine affair. Hence a positive report before 18 months does not mean the child is infected. Hence we are testing for HIV only after a period of eighteen months in children. If the baby is tested positive even after one and half years, the baby is infected with HIV. It will not turn to be negative even with treatment with antiretroviral therapy (ART). Kindly do not give a false statement, that would have perceived form the health experts speech. this i totally not true. I also request the organization, which is really doing a good service (need of the hour), to clarify their doubts with near by health officials or Doctors.
